Having smashed their way into 2011 with a huge release from DJ Hazard, DJ Hype & Pascal’s Playaz imprint continues to dominate the world of drum & bass. Official member of the Playaz camp, Prolix, teams up with MC Fats and LA based producer Gridlok for this release, which has been tearing up raves in DJ Hype’s sets for months.

Straddling the line between the disgusting D&B Prolix and Gridlok are known for making and the soulful style Fats has become associated, ‘Tru Born Playa’ could easily have turned into a massive mess. Instead it blends up the styles with pinpoint accuracy and the only mess will be the dancefloor when this one gets dropped!

Dropping into some seriously sexy liquid vibes on the AA side, MC Fats gets back to the epic wide-open style he’s renowned for with saxophone licks and stepping jungle beats. It’s not long before Prolix & Gridlok slip in a heavyweight bassline to juxtapose the whole affair though, and this track will no doubt keep people moving even at peak time.

They say that music goes around in cycles, and this, the latest in a string of huge releases from Playaz, just goes to show that D&B is back on the upswing!
