Annoying 'Click'

Post by MrHydeDub » Wed Jan 12, 2011 8:55 am

I haven't really been producing that long and I bet this is very very simple to fix, but I have a click sound at the start of a loop.

If I hit play, no click, but as soon as it loops and starts playing a second time there's a really loud click.

Anybody help out?

I'm using simpler in ableton live, freq at 70Hz, Res at 2. Envelope at -15... Not sure what else to put as I'm at work at the moment.

I've used the sample I'm using quite a lot and never came across this...

If there's a topic for this already or something along the lines.. Sorry.. But have you ever typed 'click' into that search engine?

Cheers.

Are all the samples at teh beginning of the loop sliced at zero crossing?

You need to cut loops at a 'zero crossing' where the wave is at the centre of the waveform (not above or below), or make a really quick fade in/out, a few milliseconds should do.
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget.

Ok cheers folks I'll give it a go when I get home.. I just don't understand why it's happening now... I've used this waveform a million times before... Maybe drums or hats where covering the click? But yeah I'll make sure they're at zero crossing and if not I'll try a quick fade in :W:

Seems like it's at the end of the sample, not the beginning. Check there first ;)

Is your loop marker halfway through the sound? It might not be a 'real' click, but clicking because it loops halfway through the sound. Check that before doing any processing :)

FWIW Clicks of this sort look like vertical lines on your waveform. If you think of the waveform describing the in and out motion of your speaker, then a click means your speaker is trying to be in two places at once. Hence the sound.

HTH :)

For anyone that cares.. I solved it by turning down the Mid a bit.

It didn't seem to be the sample but when the bar looped it had a horrible click...Oh well. Solved.

I change it when he sues me I guess. Not too bothered really. It's not a mainstream producers name. It's not like I'm calling myself Skream.

When I'm sued I will. I just can't be arsed changing all my facebook/myspace/soundcloud/mixcloud/hotmail/youtube/google again. I'll do it only when I need to like.

I mean I did a good google search and on myspace and facebook and there was only a DJ Hyde and a DJ Mr Hyde. I thought I could get away with Mr Hyde. Obviously not.

out of these 3 mr hyde's, not one of them has used mrhydedubstep for anything. strange.

Having the same name as someone, or something will be a major hassle for you in the future trust me. Change it while it's not too late

But he is a mainstream producer, he produces for "kid rock", "limp bizkit" and "no doubt", amongst many, many others... he shaped EDM as we know it, and hes been around way longer then skream, so yeah, in essence, that exactly how it comes off. -w-

Its like calling yourself Dr. Dre.... Skream would be better.

You definately could when it gets into names that big, but thats not the point, from a promotional standpoint its suicidal. No way to get the google keyword when someone already uses it, and the internet is what makes promotion these days.

Which is kinda sad in and of its self....

Seriously surprised that no one has asked whether you have the release on the ADSR env up a little bit?! Considering that someone did mention the attack...

Just shocking lads  its the bread and butter of sampling or synthesis. ADSR! Lol.
