how to make piano chords/stabs starts at 2.15 or does anyone have samples iv had a look thro my sample library but nothings quite working : /
also where do ppl get ther vox for garage tracks? cos i guess thats quite important really

Alright well that's just a smooth saw-wavey synth. The reason it sounds so good is that it's beeing put into chords.
What program are you on?

If you have FL Studio you can set it to make the shape of any chord in piano roll. You must be able to do it in other DAWs.

Also, it's worth googling the notes of a chord and finding some funky ones. I recommend Major 7ths and Major 9ths. They sound funky as!

I wouldn't bother with samples btw.

If you actually want a garagey piano, start by finding a nice warm, bright sounding piano preset -you want it to have a slightly 'spikey' sound to it- and play around eq'ing the high's around 2-6 K. Really brings out a nice bite in the sound. Then add some very subtle chorus, not really obvious, you just want it to give it that nice 'sweetening' sound that light chorus adds, and it will add a bit of wideness to the sound too.

For things like stabs, just use a nice sawtooth pad, try detuning the 2 or 3 oscillators set to saw to give it a nice fat sound. Then try putting a phaser on it the pad, or route your filter cutoff to the ADSR envelope and play around with the attack, decay, sustain, and release so that it sweeps the filter over the sound as you play a chord.

For things like organs (actual organ chords -not the now cheesy and overused 'organ bassline' type sound- try putting a flanger on the organ or rhodes sound. It gives it a lovely wah effect.

If you're using Reason or Logic I can give you some nice presets or do a real quick vid tutorial if you need help.
