Good lord that is terrible. Predictable drums, way too much mid range, no real bass to speak of, and a very generic way of using the original source material. The very worst kind of YouTube remix that gives dubstep such a bad name in places.
[EDIT - Just seen your username, apologies for coming across as somewhat brisk with my comments. What makes this controversial?]
admittedly i didnt like the tune, but ther was bass there, i heard it fine
You mean the mid range synth that kicks in at 55s? That's not bass. That's a mid range synth.

I've got no problem with commercial music. I do have an issue with mass produced identikit sounding dubstep remixes of commercial music, but that's a personal opinion.
I did a YouTube search for 'Rhianna Only Girl Dubstep'. 571 matches. I clicked on one randomly. It sounded pretty much identical to what you'd done, even the drop was in the same place (55s). The issue with commercial remixes of this nature is that, by and large, people stick to the Generic Dubstep Remix Template™, with the only thing seperating the tracks is a) the Massive patch used and b) how quickly they can get it uploaded to YouTube to gain the most hits.
I take your point but arguably, does your template theory not apply to almost all electronic music in that case?? Everything has a distinct layout and a defining drop synth....with the tempos also remaining the same, theres little left that varies, but I suppose thats how you define a genre.
I've posted this video in another forum, hope it helps people. I've learned a lot from this forum, its a great tool but I never really post anything, so here's a tutorial, hope you find it helpful - you can download the exact patch from the actual youtube video (its in the description).
I'm pretty new to producing dubstep in FL Studio 9. I was wondering what everyone's preferences were regarding whether to use Sytrus or 3x OSC (or some other instrument) for the main bassline.

Never understood this, as i find the sub heavy dubstep to be just as repetitive.
This.
People complain "ah it's repetitive and unoriginal, anyone can do that"
You don't get many threads asking how to make a fucking sine wave sub do you?
I love both ends of the spectrum, but seriously think that dubstep listeners, djs & producers are pretentious. Just hating because people outside of their isolated bubble like brostep..
Do you say zerbaman? Or do you say zebraman? Soundcloud
