Outlook Festival 2011 - Travel.
Hey everyone, more of a browser than a poster!
Me and a group of friends are planning to go Outlook this year, however we are not the most organized people and its normally last minute. So before i order my ticket im just wondering about some issues when it comes to travel for when you actually land in Croatia. I just have some questions.
-What airport do you fly to?
-How will you be getting to Pula? Are there Coach deals available or do you have to use public transport?
-What sort of money are we talking?
-Do the Croations understand English to an extent?
Cheers for any replies!

Re: Outlook Festival 2011 - Travel.
Last year I flew from Stansted to Lubijhana (Slovenia) and got a transfer from there, was like three hours on a coach, the flight was less than 90 minutes. However on the way back our transfer bus decided to leave two hours early, which really took the piss as most of us had rinsed all our cash. We ordered a cab but in our panic of it not turning up (as we had like three hours to get to the airport) we offered the nearest van lad cash to take us, got about two miles up the road and the taxi we had ordered was chasing us, pulled us over, and basically it looked like we were being kidnapped as the Croats argued. Matey boi then explained that you need an offical cab with documents to get over the border and he would take us once he had dropped off his fresh fish he had bought at the market that morning, when we got to his house he was offering us cats and dogs to take home. Fairplay to the loopa, he got us there with literally two minutes to spare.
This year am blatantly just doing the same travel path however getting taxis both ways. The Croats in general spoke really good english, and the money is Kuna and I managed six days out there on £600.00 with comfort.

Nah not mad at all, about £50.00 each (four people) it's worth it, for peace of mind and convenience. Plus on the transfers coach we got stuck at the Croatian border for two hours while everyone was frisked and searched for goodies. In a cab, you get searched, well it's only four people and will take about ten minutes. Also with the getting searched rubbish, people were arriving late to Pula and being late at night it was annoying for anyone needing to pick up apartment keys etc... £50.00 well spent. I could never ever Sunshine Bus it, fair enough you can have jokes and that but 36hrs!!! Fuuuuuuuuck that!!!ashley wrote:Cab from Pula to Slovenia and back?

Ill be getting a taxi again if i cant find a flight to pula, flew stansted to trieste in italy last year, got on the airport bus to trieste town centre where we expected to get on a coach to pula, however the women on the desk informed us all the seats had been booked up (despite us reserving seats) and the next bus was'nt until the next day.
We ended up getting in a couple of cabs with some people in the same situation and despite going italy/slovenia/croatia it only cost us 40euros each, we where in a nice air conditioned cab with a friedly driver (who loved tom jones) and passed straight through 2 boarders where there where people having to get off buses while it got searched. Its a much better option than people would think.
Just hope they sort that dusk out this year and the creepy jungle treck up to the fort!

Aye taxi for the win like!! The creepy trek was class. All the security lads look like demented terrorists though. Products of Croat cousin fuckin perhaps?!
Re: Outlook Festival 2011 - Travel.
In my usual disorganised way I didn't arrange the bus transfer from Pula to Ljubliana, and by the time I got round to it (that morning), the bus was full. So I just asked the next car leaving the campsite with Slovenian reg for a lift and it was no problem! I even gave them my tent as a bonus!
Re: Outlook Festival 2011 - Travel.
I'd personally recommend flying into Venice (which has flights going to airports across the UK, so there's less travelling on this side) and then getting a transfer coach to and from the site.
Just my personal view on it really.

Well it depends where you're from. If you're from London, then Pula with Ryan Air is a no brainer! As it happened, there were no flights from Pula to London on that Monday.

Why I said Venice - lots more flight options!chico_red wrote:Well it depends where you're from. If you're from London, then Pula with Ryan Air is a no brainer! As it happened, there were no flights from Pula to London on that Monday.

Re: Outlook Festival 2011 - Travel.
Got flight from Gatwick directly to Pula last year. Worked out just over 200 for return. Saves fucking about with transfers and that. Doing the same again this year! Can't wait

Re: Outlook Festival 2011 - Travel.
What are people doing about bringing tents etc, is it easier to get stuff when your out there? or best to bring it on plane?
Re: Outlook Festival 2011 - Travel.

flew to venice and then got the connecting coach. no problems. return flights and coaches cost us around £110 each. book early
Re: Outlook Festival 2011 - Travel.
Looks like I will be going this year! Just a bit sketchy on travel details, does this sound right: We would get a plane to London, then bus to Croatia and bus back to London.

Re: Outlook Festival 2011 - Travel.
Are the apartments reasonably priced? 4 of us are going together, are they big enough?jimmymac86 wrote:Depends how good you are at packing and how much stuff you wanna carry around, most people i knew who camps last year took there own tents, all about the apartments for me again though
