Idk if this is a well known fact, but I'm pretty sure his vocal samples are often R&B samples. A friend of mine who used to be an avid R&B fan and not much into electronic recognized a lot of the words used from R&B songs in songs like Archangel
I know, I know… …its just frustrating. No matter where I look I can’t find samples this good… He’s got very special ears… and a lot of luck...
I have this huge acapella pack that I downloaded years ago. I swear everyone of his vocal samples is in there. I started thinking he had the same pack as me but really it's just all stuff that is available on p2p networks or was when people used them. I don't think he sampling goes much deeper than that tbh. There are other producers like Calibre for example that uses mostly vinyl as a source. You hear stuff in his music you might not find on the web or at least you won't find it in high quality.
I think field recording can get you some really unique samples, but rooting around in old music can get you some pretty good samples as well. Just listen to loads of wierd/old music til you hear something that strikes you.
