The rumors are true. Bluetech is back.

[INVISIBLE ALLIES, BLUETECH, KILOWATTS, HANS OHM, KADMON, ZUM ONE, MACHINELF, T-MINUS]

March 19th marks the long-awaited return of the down-tempo legend to Toronto, bringing with him Philadelphia electronic maestro KiloWatts. Two killer solo sets support their tag-team headline act, INVISIBLE ALLIES, exploring futuristic spacefunk, odd time signatures, detailed digitalia and a sublime sens...e of the exotic.

These Hyperdimensional Animals are held up by a foundation of local community luminaries. Hans Ohm (Light, Archi-Textures) opens the main room while we stir up the psychedelia in Hyperspace with Kadmon (One Love Movement, Solar Groove Network), Zum One (Suma), Machinelf (Timewave Productions, Oya Collective) and cirQlar Resident DJ, T-Minus (cirQlar, Archi-textures).

Prepare for sights unseen as the enormous 20’ x 16’ cirQlar screen returns, better than ever before. Icelandic experimental filmmaker, Dee Shanger, opens the evening with an early showing of RUSHES TRILOGY followed by the live visual stylings of Siren Sativa (Suma) and a very special presentation during Invisible Allies’ set. We’ve crafted a ridiculous line-up of jugglers, dancers and psychedelic romancers to sweep you off your feet. Expect to be excited and delighted all night by live circus and performance art from Movement Esoteric, Peter Jarvis, PyRomeo, Louis Barber, Dominque Rabideau and Lacey Cameron-Williams, while pioneer balloon sculptor, Sean Rooney, hosts AND provides décor!

Image Invisible Allies is a collaboration between well known West Coast downtempo aficionado Bluetech and Philadelphia electronic mastermind KiloWatts. Both established with numerous releases and projects spanning various genres, the Invisible Allies collaboration is a meeting between two distinct and imaginative minds, each with acute musical sensibilities and signature aesthetics.

Exploring futuristic spacefunk, textural ambient, odd time signatures, complex harmonic developments, detailed digitalia and a sublime sense of the exotic, the first Invisible Allies EP, “Hyperdimensional Animals,” gives a first look into what promises to be an exciting and evolving conversation between two singular and eccentric producers.

Image A classically trained pianist and master of the art of software production, Bluetech's love of melody and his exquisite sense of sound design makes him one of the most ingenious producers today. His sound emerges from custom-built software instruments and synthesizers and blossoms into a unique blend of idm, downtempo and electro-infused dub that encompasses musical styles from different parts of the globe. Ripe with emotive vistas, reflective passages and evocative depth Bluetech’s lush digital sound palate reflects on nature’s expression of being. Bluetech’s latest album, “Love Songs To The Source” (Interchill Records, 2010), employs a more dub-wise and organic sound than on his previous releases. With the addition of live instrumentalists and vocalists, such as Dr. Israel, Katrina Blackstone, and Tina Malia, listeners are presented with an inviting point of departure into the warm, spacious realms of his signature mid and down-tempo electronica. In addition to “Love Songs To The Source,” Bluetech has four releases on the internationally acclaimed Aleph Zero Records, as well as releases on Somnia Sound, Waveform Records, Thoughtless Music and his own Native State imprint. Following the release of his legendary 2005 full-length “Sines and Singularities” the New York Times labeled Bluetech “one of the best ambient artists.” He has toured extensively throughout the United States, as well as performing in Japan, UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Croatia, France, Denmark, Mexico, and Canada.

Image Jamie Watts is the mind behind KiloWatts and his many different projects and styles. His work embraces the bulk of electronic genres, including breaks, IDM, techno, and downtempo. His fluency in piano is evident throughout his work, as is his penchant for jazzy riffs, intelligent structure, wistful melodies, and an often cheeky take on the current state and history of electronic music as a whole. His album “Ground State” is out on Native State Records, home to fellow pioneers Bluetech and Shen. It’s a collection of sweaty psychedelic downtempo grooves, churning molasses-thick basslines, and undulating synthetic sonorous mandalas. KiloWatts has albums on Artificial Music Machine that are full of visionary dimensions, fusing together a dexterous knowledge of sound synthesis, deep emotional articulation, and solid melodic intuition. Peppered throughout these monumental statements are releases with class labels such as Harmonious Discord, Thoughtless Music, and his own outlet, KiloWatts Music, that celebrate his adept technical expertise, often bringing a whirlwind of mindblowing digital wizardry in the form of glitches and edits.
