It cracks me up that people on here are saying a weekend is all it takes to learn to mix. You obviously cant actually mix, but what you can do is talk crap.

Yep, loads. It is always funny when you hear people say how easy DJ wax is and then admit they cannot even do it proper. If you are a good DJ you can mix on any decks and mix any records put in front of you. Wax DJs can often hold their own on CD decks and get through if they have only used them a few times. It does not appear to work the other way tho...

Every record is different and they have little inconsistencies that can make mixing records even more challenging!
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

I made a saw wave using Missive at the weekend. That synth is a piece of piss to use!

so easy to get yall flustered, Sure I probably would suck ass on wax. Do I care, not really. Also I am not saying that I am great at DJing, I def suck comparitivly but I can lay out a mix. Im saying that people that make the music they play are held in much higher respect by me than the other option. and what is off about my remarks about vinyl? I think that it is true, it is expensive to spin wax and pretty much every DJ I have seen in the last year uses CDJ's or a laptop, so I think that Indeed someday there will be no such thing as vinyl on the market, at least here in the US does not seem to me to be growing.
Everywhere I play in London has no CDJs at all. I know loads of people who still buy records so its all good.
In the US I have not seen one Vinyl setup at any of the festivals/clubs etc ive been to in the past 2 years.

Yeh? those events would not happen to be sponsored by someone who is supplying new toys by any chance? ;)

People like Richie Hawtin is not a marketing puppet have done record sales no favours over there. There are still big names like Frankiebones, Joey Beltram and more who use wax still. America has a massive rap/hip hop following in the electronic dance scene and they flopped it years ago.

RIP Sonic Groove in NYC. That record shop and the work Adam put into it and Storm raves did so much for Electronic music over there.

Massive has nothing to do with DJ'ing, which is what I was talking about. Your "sarcasm" missed the point and therefor became hot air, thus avoiding detection from my sarcasm detection unit.

You're so right about the saw wave thing. The same people who think they can learn to mix in a weekend start producing and think that routing an lfo to a filter cutoff is mastering synthesis.

I think there is still newbies coming into DJing, particularly vinyl. I started mixing about 3 months ago and I use only vinyl, I think it's important that the vinyl culture stays alive in all bass music because it's such a big part of it.

I probably could of got a laptop and midi controller and be seeing more success mixing than with vinyl but for me, it's the way I wanna play the tunes and spend my money.

I think someone missed the point initially then tried to cover their tracks, hence 4th post after initial response ;)

No, i skiped some posts so hopefully this isnt a re-post.

It annoys me when a Dj (only) comes round to make tunes or learn production, the comments.
"makin tunes is well easy, just beats and bass, easy... use this massive preset innit!"
"make it sound like rusko and pendulum blud"
"why aint you signed yet? making tunes is well easy just make a dirty bass, here il hum you a line"
These comments annoy me.

As for you learning beatmatching in a weekend, well done, go BUY some vinyl and keep mixing, get better... or do you think you have cracked it and are the next andy c?

plus doesnt software mixing these days make beatmatching redundent with the beat-sync button anyway?

The OP's comment is fucking ignorant. Have you ever thought that people mix because they enjoy it? I can happily jump on my turntables for a few hours and actually enjoy mixing.
Music isn't about status, its something personal that you should enjoy.

Really? I mean I've only heard a few N-Type songs but I never really thought any were too horrid. I liked Dub Police DP002
