most good shows don't make it on our main networks, it's the cable ones that pump out all the good shows anyways
the main networks pump out pulp crap and generally when they have a good show it gets cancelled
ffs most of the sitcom shows still have laugh tracks like people are too stupid to realize a joke has been said or something funny happened

i'll have to dl being human and peep it since i enjoyed the pilot of the us version

The first series is much more geared towards comedy than the second. The second series goes really quite dark and adult.

yea only been one ep so far but is a bit comedy and dark already, gonna have to give it a few more eps as there was that show the walking dead that looked promising the first few eps and went to shit real quick

the reason they re-wrote the office is so that it referred to an american environment. why would americans know about slough?

plus i think the beauty of the office (uk) is that it has a beginning, middle and end. the american channel wanted something it could milk for eternity, and essentially ruin imho. it's got kind of boring now, the situation in the situation comedy hasn't changed enough.

us remakes aren't always sucess though. there's that hotel one that's obviously a rip off of fawlty towers, and that's dire.

i've got no beef with american tv. there's so many top quality american drama series that we could never have done justice to. i.e the wire, deadwood, broadwalk empire, the sopranos, rome, mad men, dexter etc etc etc

obviously the money is in america and its not like the uk hasnt stolen idea's from other places and made them for ourselves (though it does seem to be game shows).

one thing i do notice is that there seems to be a lot of british actors going to america and making stuff without americans ever realising that theyre american. speaks volumes for the high esteem that british actors are held in that producers would rather take a punt on an unknown british actor then get an american one in. or maybe theyre just cheaper...
