Always the villians tho, is it because they dont trust us??laurent__duval wrote:i've got no beef with american tv. there's so many top quality american drama series that we could never have done justice to. i.e the wire, deadwood, broadwalk empire, the sopranos, rome, mad men, dexter etc etc etc
obviously the money is in america and its not like the uk hasnt stolen idea's from other places and made them for ourselves (though it does seem to be game shows).
one thing i do notice is that there seems to be a lot of british actors going to america and making stuff without americans ever realising that theyre american. speaks volumes for the high esteem that british actors are held in that producers would rather take a punt on an unknown british actor then get an american one in. or maybe theyre just cheaper...

Skins is shit period as is Misfits. It's TV for people who are too old for Byker Grove but too young for the Vicar of Dibbly.
Re: Stacy Slater to appear on Being Human
skins was only good if you were in sixth form at the same time as the characters.
Re: Stacy Slater to appear on Being Human
Same with the Inbetweeners, I think you have to be still be looking forward to shaving with a real gown up's razor to enjoy that programme.
Re: Stacy Slater to appear on Being Human
inbetweeners was always shit imo.

i dunno about that. mcnulty might not have been the nicest character but he was definitely not the villain of the wire. andrew lincoln was the hero of the walking dead. nearly all the cast of rome were english, hugh laurie in house, tim roth in lie to me.... anymore anyone can think of?

this would be sick dunno why noone's made it..onelove. wrote:The Sopranos became Cockneys so the audience can relate more.
could have Ray Winstone as Tony Soprano and Danny Dyer as Christopher the wayward drug using nephew.

most of these characters were American. If Andrew Lincoln was an English guy in Walking Dead he would have probably been some mad zombie scientist or something lollaurent__duval wrote:clifford_- wrote:Always the villians tho, is it because they dont trust us??laurent__duval wrote:i've got no beef with american tv. there's so many top quality american drama series that we could never have done justice to. i.e the wire, deadwood, broadwalk empire, the sopranos, rome, mad men, dexter etc etc etc

McNulty is American, so is Hugh Laurie's character in House
US tv and film love to portray the English as villainous. It's the accent really, ripe for sly skullduggery etc and no worse than the way German's are ripe for villains to us English

eh? all i'm saying is that lead characters in american drama series are increasingly played by british actors. i've made no comment about us being portrayed as villains...

Re: Stacy Slater to appear on Being Human
read back through my OP, i never spoke about americans portraying us as villians. was just saying british actors playing american roles in major dramas
and anyway, this is totally off the point....
