I thought I would use my iPhone a lot more for music. I have purchased a lot of them but rarely use them. I want an iPad. Would use them then. The little screen is tedious but if you are stuck somewhere and only have your phone for entertainment, it's handy.

I thought about getting this. But i only got an iPhone, screen's too small surely. it's gotta be an ipad!
I make music as Forsaken, you can DL all my unreleased (and a couple released) bits here.

i'm thinking more right now about using it as a session controller, via my android... rather than hitting the "record" button, keeping track of the 8 bars of click i've got before the track starts, sitting down, picking up the sticks and thinking, "wham!" i could just hit record from my phone.

definitely considering an ipad(s) for performance. we shall see what 2011 brings...

yeah i figured I'd use my iPad more for music than I actually do. Production wise I haven't utilized it much since I find it easier to just map one knob at a time on my axiom if i need tactile control of something. Im just in the process of mapping out a Traktor MIDI map with S1 Midi Trigger so I can use it in conjunction with my Xponent. However, for what it's worth i think it's way over kill for traktor. It would be killer for an Ableton live set or an actual 'live' type set though!

Yeah, I thought about the same, so I got 'mobile mouse pro' which turns your iphone into a remote control for your mac/pc. Nice when I got the macbook hooked up to the tv and im on the couch, or if i got a studio full of people and i need to hit record. Plus it means I can use it for a number of different things.

I think I'll hold out for the iPad2 before dumping any scrilla on a tablet.

iPad 2 will be out in no time. It's probably going to have a dual core processor and at least a gig ram. I am wondering how long before you can run Serato from one. Anyway I am considering retiring from djing and start doing more of a live thing. iPad would become an important piece.

Yah that's the tip I'm on as of a couple months ago.
It's fun but A LOT OF PREP involved.

Well djing takes a lot of prep too. It would actually be nice to not have to concern myself with other peoples music as much. I am not getting that many gigs locally anymore anyway because I don't bro so much. So yeah.

Let me know what you guys think! I actually am looking for ideas for production templates and other changes/pages to this setup for live performances.

I have used touchosc but it was never reliable enough for me, and I could not get the editor to connect to my iPAD numerous times.

I switched over to touchable, my lord....what a piece an app that is. So in depth, full transport controls, full session view, ability to go into each plugin/instrument and control the parameters. Its great, no need for a computer at that point, I usually just close the lid and move it to the side or put it behind me for shows.

I use TouchOSC in the studio to control logic and live for controlling faders/FX/Eq when i'm using mlrv rewired into ableton. Using an iphone atm but hanging out for the V2 of the ipad.

Use that with a MT screen (150Euros). Leaves 350 for a flightcase ;)
