why would you try and do this? you don't own the content, and you don't have rights to distribute already broadcasted content.

no no no, this comes off wrong i know. but! i have an idea with a site.. I was just going to stream the stuff for nostalgia purposes not trying to take credit etc.. just a place for people to listen to old sets and stuff from back in the day without having to download them or something else. not taking credit.

barefiles aren't "broadcasting" the content. read what he's saying. streaming is a BIG difference, between having files up for download..

I'm confused on how it would be bad for me to do so seckle, considering i'm only streaming it so people don't have to download it they cant just tune in to the broadcast and it or other sets be playing. on a 24/7 loop of nothing but old school stuff. I'm obviously not taking credit for it, and the website will tell you whats playing (the station/and dj/producer) I'm not playing it and talking over it like as if it is mine.

Don't see how it would work or why it would work.

A lot of old content is already available online, you'll just be duplicating that content.

Plus, good luck trying to show what track is currently playing when it's a) a mix, b) hardly any of them have tracklists, let alone cue files.

Im imagining you want to do something similar to what grimeforum have done?
but instead of having the content readily available, you want to lock it into a autonomous radio format which plays continuously?

yea i don't see why it wouldn't work. sure there's a possibility that you could get sued.... especially if your making money off the site that's hosting the files (like with banner ads n shit)

the thing thats getting me though is, why?
like most people have pointed out, there's plenty of old content plastered all over the net, and would really seem like a waste of time trying to set something up like this.

i dunno.

Well, its like why wait on a 9 minute or 10 minute download for something when whenever you want some music you just go to the site and listen.
