Crystal Clear - ‘Pure Thought’ / ‘Contact’ [Frontline]

Post by PlayazHQ » Mon Jan 31, 2011 11:00 am

Anyone paying attention to the D&B scene will know that Crystal Clear has been smashing it up for the last few years, with his recent excursions on Hype & Pascal’s label empire culminating in some of his best work. Having proved his diversity across a stream of releases, this 12” for Frontline is all about some back to basics dancefloor fire!
‘Pure Thought’ takes an epic film score style intro that depicts a Sin City vibe, before pounding down the door with a bouncing bassline packed with sub. Skipping breaks keep the energy moving along and interspersed string edits make this way more interesting than the usual fodder.
Meanwhile ‘Contact’ heads down a similar path, with more cinematic sampling, bringing to mind Alfred Hitchcock. Or at least, after the humongous drop comes, it would remind you of Alfred Hitchcock if he strapped on a pair of Adidas and stomped his way into the main room at Fabric!
This is yet another top quality release from Crystal Clear, sure to be a big hit with the dancefloor DJs.

not that big on d&b, but we booked this guy a while back and he was very pleasant and played a very strong (jump-up) performance. Stand-up guy who didn't mind playing in front of a crowd of 200 when the same evening he had to play a crowd of 2000.
