I disagree with literally everything in this thread 0.o
2 types of bassline? Your basically saying if it has anything other than an lfo to cutoff wobble it's a 'womp' despite shitloads of sounds not sounding anything like that. Who moved my cheese for example? or Get Back by 501? The Drop by Unitz? Spongebob by coki? (Which I'm pretty sure has lfo magic on it but not in the traditional way and the movement is caused by note placement so where does that stand?) Walkin Bass by Skream?
Are 'womps' only when someone uses individual notes to create a similar effect to an lfo wobble or are you counting things like long drawn out swipes as well? cos they are two very distinct types of sound in my eyes...
Basically...what a rediculous notion

I always thought spongebob was coki rockin the comb filter, notes porta-gliding all over the place, and some waveform mod's...

He automated nearly everything on spongebob using a few subtraktors.

Why?
Granted the terms 'womps' or 'wobbles' are both pretty fucking stupid to describe each technique, but it's two different ways of making a bassline. One is using LFO's and cutoff, and the other is using the ADSR.

It's like saying "There's two types of cheese, yellow and red" it's just a ridiculous sweeping generalisation on something that is incredibly diverse.

filthy jabs/wobs
sounds more interesting, isnt as repetitive as LFO. i still use the lfo but not usually for the main bassline to the song.

Sticking with cheese, props to paravrais for mentioning Who Moved My Cheese. That's my favourite type of bass sound. It doesn't wobble at all, it's just kinda stinky, detuned saws and squares. Absolutely love it.
