CV has one the sickest drums, period. 99% of his BTTM album was done on his Modular G2. He definately knows his synthesis!
I have been trying to synth my drums on my Nord Lead 2, got some ok sounding kicks but nowhere near CV.

I've got a Monotron recently, using it's self oscillating filter also got me some decent result.

Didnt do any further processing on both tho, definitely gonna give it another go tomorrow. Will report back if I get some nice results.

I haven't made any drum samples with hardware yet... other than an 808 style kick on the new Gaia Sh01 when I was in guitar center...

Although I use absynth 5 and massive to create almost every drum and percussion sound in my music. A bit difficult at first, and sometimes I still need a bit of luck here and there to make some good samples, but it's getting to the point where I can make most anything I want to. I've heard a lot of people talking about how synthesizing good snares is very hard, but I've found it pretty easy. It's cymbals and hi-hats that I find hard, no matter what I do they sound so cheap, either that or they sound like glitch samples.

soundcloud.com/isturite if you want to hear my drums...

I'm going to make an audio track with each sample triggered one at a time to upload, so that people can cut the samples out... and I'll feel like I'm contributing something other than long paragraphs full of technical/philosophical blabber... So I'll upload that once I get a chance

The basic theory behind drum synthesis, for those who don't know where to begin. Using Thor, but can be applied to any other synth.

When you use it correctly massive can generate some very nice snares. (or gabber kicks)

Mostly done with a bit FM, noise generator, and perf or LFO. on some meaningfull parameters.
