When I've heard American friends of mine use 'tnuc' or 'twat' as a derogatory noun, it just sounds weird.

I say cheers quite a bit out of habit. About 50% of my daily social media interactions are with western europeans, thus a large majority of my conversations have a cheers or two thrown in.how do u feel about north americans using british slang
It's all about the context of it all. If I'm typing I'm likely to shoot off a renegade 'cheers' here or there out of habit. But vocally I don't use it near as much i rare hear cheese in vocal conversations.

yeah but surely swearing at someone loses its effect if they don't realise.mr hyde wrote:when I lived over there for a while in the late 90's no one knew what those words meant, or tosser, wanker, bollocks...could get away with saying a lot!wub wrote:When I've heard American friends of mine use 'tnuc' or 'twat' as a derogatory noun, it just sounds weird.

Isn't the word 'tnuc' really offensive in America? Or rather to American Women? Curb Your Enthusiasm may have gave me that impression mind.
