Orchestral Strings

Post by cained & able » Fri Feb 04, 2011 2:13 pm

Hey guys,

Anyone recommend / have any good orchestral pads, specifically strings? So difficult to find good pads these days...

OR alternatively know where i can find some good samples for this? I'm thinking Orbital, Wide Angle esq...

Thanks,

C&A

Get the E-mu Emulator X

Too old for this... but still too young to care!

Philharmonik does pretty well, pricey though.

Seen it on the Bonobo masterclass vid.

I totally agree. Sometimes you can find it for super cheap on eBay, i got mine for $120. It's really nice since it's dry and there's some interesting combis. It has essentially all the strings you'd ever need.

Also if you have Kontakt there's some sweet strings inn there too, although they have some decent reverb and stuff on them.

If you're VSTi-capable, this right here ain't bad for free:

With a little subtle eq'ing and coloration you can get some nice sounds from it.

I've seen a lot of people rinsing the string sounds in ESX 24, to be honest

Alot of the soft sampler library's are capable but it's the expression you need to master to get them to sound 'played' and realistic.
