also, i thought it would be cool to do a weekly 'producer intensive' where we pick a forum producer, and pick apart their style/work here on the production forum. obviously this would only be for producers who agree to let this happen
peace!
you know this is a wicked idea!
alright for what it's worth here's what I thought of ur stuff....
shuggoth
really stuck out for me... boxcutter beautiful but much more simple and to the point... i don't know whether u did this before or after that dj gave u the advice but i would like to hear a mix with stronger kick and snare.... i'm thinking along the lines of distance - temptation as a reference, it's got a similar vibe. i'm gonna be back on your virb a fair few times to listen to this one!
brain leech also sticks out as a gd'un ...the bass work is niceness! and the drums sound stronger which is a good thing. big tune!
not mad keen on that harsh lead thing on sweet revenge (hope you know which one i mean), altho you've got drum programming and atmos nailed..
sahara has a very very nice vibe, i wouldnt be surprised to hear it in a pinch mix, bass is heavy, all the sounds work nice together, but for me, it's a little too busy. i'd cut some space into it, make that oriental lead thing more sparse, do a little of the same to the drums...but maybe that's remix territory
anyway, i was very impressed with your sound, i've been curious to hear ur tunes since i saw a couple in a forensics mix, and i wasnt dissapointed! you've consistently got good atmos, good percussion and bass patterns, and i can hear an original sound ready to hatch with some more work, which is the most important thing!
and let me know when ur happy that everyone's said their bit, if no-one's pm'd u i want next week
