Saucerface [MalLabel Music][MAL014]

Saucerface is MalLabel Music’s first compilation and is comprised of all new tracks by West Coast artists. Saucerface is the first in a series of what are to be annual compilations. In addition to new material by MalLabel artists Saucerface also features two wicked tracks from established stars 6BLOCC and Mochipet.

”Meow” by Minnesota opens Saucerface with driving intensity and a minimalist approach to sound pared down to slight ...8bit melodies and huge bass bin rumbles for a simple but effective sound. Heavyweight 6BLOCC ‘s “Kultcha” comes correct with a rugged blend of glitchy, teched-out dubstep and reggae vibes that is typical of his signature style. The original version of “Get Tuff” by Helicopter Showdown is a synth and hoover masterpiece that has the sharpest focus on melody found on the compilation. BAD/MEDIA brings da ruckus with a bass onslaught that will leave ears bleeding. Fresh Young Minds get supa funky on the bass driven epic “Paper Primate”, while superstar Mochipet turns it into a synth driven, futuristic gangsta anthem on the remix that closes out the collection. El Diablo sets a fun ghetto crunk meets dirty breaks course on his contribution “El Diablo Slash”. Skulltrane and Fresh Young Minds team up for the fresh remix of “Get Tuff” that draws on old rave music, current dubstep, and the classic g-funk sound. Dr. Knobz ups the ante with his blistering “Bass Goblins”, a high-octane mix of laser and bass, in contrast, Getter gets all glitchy with plenty of choppy edits to make “Cybertron Disco” rough and tough enough for the dance floor.
