Since the recent takeover by the English, more precisely by Londoners with UK Funky, UK Garage, or UK Bass, we have seen an explosion in the number of tracks produced using huge Hip Hop bass lines and off-beat rhythm, as well as wobbly remixes of American Rap and RnB. It would be too simple to caricature this style and music because some serious gems are hidden underneath these derivatives. In the past few months, Night Slugs has obviously contributed to the democratization of the movement, and has even imposed this style as something you can truly count on (a few days ago, Night Slugs was competing with Sound Pellegrino at the Social for the title of most current label on the net). However, remixing US songs and making heavy bass tracks does not necessarily make you a real American.
With Sines, the duo made up of Leroy Bella and Joseph Isla, we are faced with real Americans from Houston, Texas. After spending a while brushing shoulders with other artists, they have forged their own unique style. After listening to the first measure, we feel their various influences: juke, ghettotech, bass, and dirty south. Even though it reminds us of UK, it has the more authentic quality of Hip Hop.
