Just got my decks

Post by Riddles » Wed Feb 09, 2011 1:23 am

Hey all,

Just got my first set of turntables and lovin em to pieces, ive got serato so playing tunes isnt an issue but what i want to know is what i should buy on wax.
It can be old, it can be new but i just want peoples opinions on what i should grab to start my vinyl collection.

Hope that makes sense lol.

probs should have said that. Im pretty open minded but avoiding all of the brosteppy stuff.

to list a few: skream, benga, breakage, distance, joker, the others, emalkay, cyrus, kromestar, pinch, vex'd, burial.

could probably go on all day tho. and to clarify im gonna buy some eps that i can think i really want, just generally any suggestions people have

I would definitely suggest the Skreamizm series on Tempa - nice little collection of tracks within five volumes. But as Shum said, buy what you like to play; don't base your purchases off other peoples' opinions.

Go on to one of the various online outlets etc http://www.chemical-records.co.uk Or http://www.redeyerecords.co.uk
and click on the section of music you wanna buy

And definitely do not take others opinions, pick what you like.

I dare you to start mixing Jungle, That shit takes SKILLZ!
I'd say the Burial albums are pretty essential on VInyl!
The Bug too, really owns his sound on WAX!

Do you know about Lo Dubs in PDX?
They put out some massive 12"

chemical and redeye are really good sites with excellent stock. However theres a lot of independent record shops about that are struggling and in danger of closing down...

http://www.indierecordshop.org/store-locator check to see what you have got in your area, and go check them out, the record shop experience is wicked and you might might a lot of safe people as well as supporting your local scene

Congrats on buying decks, I can remember when I first got mine. It was so stressful at the start but now I can't go a day without them <3

but I'd say
Truth - Fatman
Youngstar - Pulse X
Loefah - Disko Rekah
Von D - Show me

and whatever the fuck else.
The ones I listed are the ones that I always drop into a set no matter what
