The Demo Panel.
CURRENT STATUS :
done not to return.
THE PREMISE:
As promised to keep things live-o in the dubs forum, I have spoken to a few label heads and all have agreed to help out giving feedback to a selected set of tunes. This will happen once a month and each label head will be given a set of tunes. It will not be announced what tunes until they have provided feedback. The feedback itself won't be mad detailed, just a summary of what they liked / didn't like.
There are going to be some strict rules to this and submission requirements, to make this easy for everyone as possible, they are as follows and will be added to when someone does something I don't like:
1. There will be a new thread each month and submissions are to be posted in there
2. Each producer is allowed one submission per month. (Try and scam me with multiple logins and you won't get to enter again. Ever.) So put your BEST FOOT FORWARD.
3. All submissions are to be hosted on Soundcloud.
4. Myself, Be-1ne and possibly Ledge will select which tunes go to which label.
4. Post your production name, name of the track and a direct Soundcloud link, nothing else.
5. At no point is feedback/airplay/5 figure deals guaranteed.
6. Regular constructive feedback providers on the Dubs forum will get preferential treatment (no you don't need to be some technical guru in feedback, but posting 'safe blad' in 50 threads will not get you any closer).

You may have noticed I'm short of a few labels focussing on the more rowdy side. I have contacted a couple and just waiting for them to get back to me. If y'all got any suggestions please stick em up and I'll have a word. DSF users would be handy.
Any other suggestions on how to improve the idea is appreciated also.

Fuck this is a great idea. I'm assuming that if the tracks unsigned and they like it enough, they may get in contact about getting it out there.
For the more aggy side, i'm sure someone on Betamorph would be happy to take part. Run by some top people.

Re: The Demo Panel.
one tune per month? And why is that? The meaning of this all seems to get a bit forgotten, when a tune is finished and you want people to listen to it, but you already linked a tune this month, what are you supposed to do? If it doesn't bother the users, why the hell should you make it illegal? After all, a forum is meant to be for the users...

Re: The Demo Panel.
One tune a month as a submission to the panel (inside a singular thread I am yet to create). Not for the rest of the forum?RmoniK wrote:one tune per month? And why is that? I have to limit it to one per month, otherwise there will be millions of submissions and it will end up being the finished tracks feedback thread but with minimal actual feedback. This isn't a replacement for that, the whole dubs forum is.
A lot of labels get sent hundreds of tunes and its real hard to feedback to so many. Explain why things didn't or did work for you. Maybe even point you in the right direction to send the tune on or advice for further production. I know I didn't get a lot of feedback at all when I sent out stuff to labels I really liked. So the idea is, everyone gets to put their bestest effort that month, the one tune they think might really snag ears and submit it to have a going over buy someone who actually makes decision on what music get releases on good labels.
If you're banging out 278 tunes every half hour, then (wtf are you doing, take more time) you need to make a decision which is your best foot forward.
Finally, I and others actually have to select a few tunes to submit to each label head to spend time listening to and commenting on. Every dubs forum regular, posts every tune they make in one thread, the world will implode.
Hope that makes sense.
