American Audio.. maybe? or stay far away from?
So i was thinking of getting me some cdjs, it will be my first pair of my own cdjs so i was thinking i dont wanna spend a ton of money on decks. I have used pioneer 800s before and i enjoyed them, but i was aiming to get the american audio radius 1000s just because they are more in my price range at the moment. ive watched tones of videos and read up on these maw fuckas alot but i wanna hear YOUR Opnions. have any of you used these decks, or any of the series? or if you know any reasons that they just suck and that i should just save up my money and get a better set of decks, please let me know. thanks

god. im sure this thread pops up every few days, but eh ill help ya.
first of all, why do you want decks?
will you be working towards playing clubs/raves/dances?
scratching or mixing? or both?
personally id try and find a decent pair of 800s.
They're reliable, depreciation is slow (you can general get what you paid for em back if you dont like djing) and practically every club with either be using these, 1000mk3s or 2000s.
as for american audio.... put it this way 'pay peanuts, get monkeys'
we dont get american audio in nz, but we have Citronic (sells the same stuff just under different a name) and i can say (from experience) that there products are great.. for the first few weeks. then its downhill from there.
Theres the facts, you can do what you want with it...

Since you are not sure, the general thing to do is get a recognized brand name, but buy used (in this case a quick google told me that people respect mostly Pioneer, Stanton or Denon). That way, you have good quality equipment to get a good experience, and if you later decide that it is not for you - you can resell for at least what you paid for it, to the next person who wants to experiment.Dropdead420 wrote:So i was thinking of getting me some cdjs, it will be my first pair of my own cdjs so i was thinking i dont wanna spend a ton of money on decks. Dude just save up and get some pioneers. you will regret buying inferior decks.
Re: American Audio.. maybe? or stay far away from?
Yup, save up for some Pioneers. The 1000mk3s are going for around £600 on ebay over here.
I made the mistake of buying shit when I got my first turntables. Ended up getting some (dont laugh) KAM belt driven ones because I figured they couldn't be THAT bad.
Once I upgraded to a proper set of decks my mind was fully blown

well i will be using them for mixing, scratching every now and again so i could practice that, but i dont really care much for learning it.
but this has really help influence my descision, i also thought itd just be a good idea to get some 800s so i dont have to up grade for quite a while. gonna take a lil while till i get the money for em, but im sure I'll be even more stoked on life that i own myself a pair of pioneers, it will also go good with the djm 800 haha
