Union in association with Ibiza Rocks & Cream Ibiza present...

★•★•★•★ The British Student DJ Championships 2011 ★•★•★•★

Calling all scholars of sonic selection, pupils of pancake-turning, awesome academic aural activists and devoted disciples of dance - the quest is back on to find the British Champion Student DJ!

Following last year’s competition (which received over 400 entries), the country’s largest student night Union have once again got together with some of the biggest names in dance music to create a fantastic opportunity for unknown student DJ’s to travel to the epicenter of the global dance floor Ibiza, to show what they can do in some of the most prestigious DJ booths anywhere on Planet Earth.

DJ’s are invited to submit a mix and the best 35 will be invited to take part in the finals, which take place in opening party week this June. Every DJ selected will play a set at stunning Kanya Beach – which each summer hosts the world’s finest DJ’s including Paul Van Dyk and Fatboy Slim (in a dual aspect DJ booth facing both the sea and a dancefloor!), from there a final 8 will ‘play off’ around the main pool in the Ibiza Rocks Hotel – on a festival main stage which has hosted Prodigy, Dizzee Rascal, Zane Lowe and Chase & Status. Judges will include Kissy Sell Out and resident DJ’s from Ibiza Rocks, Cream Ibiza and Union.

The winner will then be invited to raise the curtain for Cream @ Amnesia’s opening party later that night! In front of a 4000 capacity crowd and a world class line up. The prize also includes a chance to play a set at Fabric London and a blingtastic trophy, which will be presented by a Cream headliner (last year Eric Prydz did the honours).

The winner will also be refunded his/her travel and accommodation expenses. It’s the ultimate way to kick start your DJ career...whilst also kicking off your summer at the biggest student party Ibiza has ever seen

Kissy Sell Out: “ It’s a great contest which I’m excited to get involved with. I love championing emerging talent and I look forward to hearing the guys play around the Ibiza Rocks Hotel; bring it on!” :) kissy x x x

So if you fancy backing yourself and living the dream under clear midsummer Ibizan skies, submit a self-created mix of 45 mins of your chosen style (ALL genres welcome: electronic/ dance/indie/rock) and upload via the event website www.britishstudentdjchamps.com. Mixes must be submitted by Friday May 6th.

If you’re invited to participate, you will be notified by email and sent booking forms. You will be responsible for arranging your own travel and reserving yourself a room at Ibiza Rocks Hotel from Mon 13th June for 4 nights.

This can be done through our ATOL & TTA bonded travel agent, Nick Cade @ Vacation Club International 0208 780 5551 (winner gets his/her holiday refunded). Enquiries: thevacationclub@btconnect.com )

To qualify for The British Student DJ Champs you must be a minimum of 18 years of age on 13/06/11 and be in full or part time education in the British Isles (you may be required to provide written proof of this). You can mix on turntables (maximum 2), CDJ’s (maximum 2) or laptop. We will provide this equipment and an in house engineer. All you need to bring are headphones, tunes...and your talent!

Ableton is allowed.
We have already had a high response from Dubstep and DnB Dj's. The judges are not biased to any styles of music.
We will listen to every entry and choose the best Dj's from the bunch.
If you have any more questions feel free to PM me.

Worst attempt at a fake profile ever. FFS, do Mark & Luke know you're handling their online promotion is such a ham fisted manner?

Union aren't exactly renowned for being the nicest / most decent promoters out there are they tho? These kind of tactics "buy a holiday and we'll give you a 45 minute set", fake profiles etc is pretty standard from them.
