Re: Vintage / classic dubstep mixes
Good to see these mixes up, but I always thought this stuff was dubstep (at least it was on the Hyperdub website back in the day).ThinKing wrote:Anyone got any more mixes from the dark 2-step era, shall we say 2000-2004ish?
We must be progressing if we're already moving into sub-genres

Hmm....

I got your meaning, I just always found the terms, classic, vintage, and moreso "oldschool" to be somewhat humorous ways to describe any music that hasn't been around for 10 or more years. d'n'b heads talking about old virus releases callilng that oldschool just makes me shrug I guess. Makes it feel like the music has a shelf life or something too... I'm sure it's more of a cultural thing anyway. carry on.elgato wrote:interesting
could i call no u turn vintage techstep?
a blatant peak of a particular strain of music before it dissipated into various mutations...?

what is this stuff?

what else would you call dubstep that's 5 or 6 years old i.e. from around the time when dubstep came into its own?
I can agree with you on the point about Virus releases (for example), as dnb had already been around for 4 or 5 years before they came along. Here though, we're talking about dubstep from when it first really became a viable genre - there isn't anything older to call 'vintage' or 'classic'.
Does anyone have this mix? Would they like to re-up?
