Re: Naming your tunes
It doesnt matter in my opinion, its just a name. all my track names are fairly random. if i have used a sample say, the one in my sig, i called it immortal machine because its said in the sample... Try something along those lines.

Re: Naming your tunes
Either I'll have some sort of image in my head when I'm writing the track (if that's the case the name is fairly easy to come up with - I once wrote a tune with images of real seedy alleyways going round in my head, so I called it back alleys), if I don't that's when the problems start. I hate it when I'm just about to bounce a piece to get feedback on and I just sit there blankly looking at the screen.
So here's a couple of ideas - close your eyes and listen to the tune - the best tunes in my mind conjure up vivid images in your mind - so you could base your title on what you think of while listening to it.
Another good source of names is the Bible (one of my recent dnb tracks is named "a chasing of the wind" which I lifted straight from ecclesiastes).

Re: Naming your tunes
I keep a notebook full of names. I usually come up with the best ones when I'm not working on music so I will write them down for later. When I get stuck on a name for new music I will pull out the notebook and see if any inspire me.

Re: Naming your tunes
I usually just type/write the first word/phrase that comes into my head then add step for the giggles, nobody ever sees the names so it's fine
How does I wobbled bass?

Re: Naming your tunes
The choice is not mine. They name themselves.
Naming your remixes is cool and should be done more.
Discuss.

You mean like Cher- Believe (Skrillex's Filthy Battyclart Refix)? That sort of thing?
Yeah, needs to happen more.

Are we talking about adding some sort of suffix subtitle like "La Roux - In For The Kill (Skream's Lets Get Ravey Mix)"? If that's the case, I don't think it's anything legendary. I mean sure, it's kinda cool and adds a little extra touch but really just doing something like (Skream Remix) at the end is more than enough for me. As long as I can Identify the versions I'm looking for.
I think it works better if you add something to the track you want to emphasize, and then utilize that in your remix title. Something like a full genre change, or maybe a specific instrument/melody you added that you want to be the focal point of the remix.
However, I would like to say just how much I hate it when people just add something like "Dubstep Remix". There could be like 20 different dubstep remixes of one song, and it makes it difficult to find the exact one you are looking for if you can't remember an artist name. Seriously! Stop it.

Thats exactly what I mean and I adore when people do this... Martyn is the man for naming his remixes!
