Re: Workin' on a new tune
Thanks bruv. I'm utterly unhappy with the kick I realize. I may revisit it... I think Stretching the deeper kick on the beat out a bit, and reinforcing the mids a touch more, and maybe filtering out some of the high end... Apply another kick over top and filter the bass out of that. Then take the key percussive elements and bus them, then apply the new york trick... Yes that is quite what I will do.Octave_Noize wrote:yes mate, got a good vibe going on there..nice rolling bass
Looking forward to hearing the rest of it,
And I'll write a tutorial on parallel compression and the new york trick while I'm at it.
All the modulation on the bass is still pretty preliminary. I had to go to bed tho, so I just chucked it up to see what sort of feedback I could get on it.
PS sick pick in your sig

does the kick sound too boomy?
APplied the newyork trick, but I think I need to revisit the eq on the parallel signal.
I don't know if I like the tune fully yet... There is something missing.

its sounding veeeery nice so far, but if ur stuck, just work out what comes next after the drums drop out at the end...work on that second drop, sometimes it helps if you have a bit more idea of structure and progression in your head before you finalize all the elements. and post it up here when ur done!decklyn wrote:one more taste. updated a touch. Thanks. Yeah trusay. What do I want to say with it. Usually it's a sortof experimental process. But you're right - it might help if I just think about how I want the track to progress. Get a bit of vision. usual the process for me is very unconcious, and I leave the concious thought to deal with the technical elements. The progression generally relies on intuition but perhaps you're quite right about thinking out the direction, that way I at least have a roadmap while my heart points the way and my head paves the road.B-LAM wrote:its sounding veeeery nice so far, but if ur stuck, just work out what comes next after the drums drop out at the end...work on that second drop, sometimes it helps if you have a bit more idea of structure and progression in your head before you finalize all the elements. and post it up here when ur done!decklyn wrote:one more taste. updated a touch.
