[Feedback]Search and Destroy

Post by Hazeltron » Thu Feb 24, 2011 9:03 pm

Hey guys!
This is my first post on here, and I have a pretty specific question, although any feedback would be appreciated! (Keep in mind this track is nowhere near completion. It is still pretty much an idea. I've done almost no work on levels or EQs so far.)
My question is this: On beat one of certain measures (Usually the second measure of a two measure phrase) there is an odd "popping sound." I have messed with the envelope of the synth, and messed with the kick, and I can't seem to get rid of the pop. I am still fairly new to producing, so I really was just shooting in the dark trying to fix the problem. Does anyone have any idea what is causing the pop?

Thanks!

Definitely sounds like a messy synth envelope, I'd have another look at them. You might get away with simple increasing the attack slightly on the amplitude envelope.

like james mentions, it may be in the envelope. I may be wrong, but it sounds like it may be the release time; try lengthening it. If that doesn't work on its own try combining it with a longer attack time, less attack level or both. It also might have to do with phase interference? Try checking the "restart via gate" box under the "osc" tab in Massive. You might want to try playing with how (where in the waveform) each oscillator starts (the bar graph thing). I'm no expert so this might be all a waste of your time though :-) Sounding good though! like the filtering in of the rhythmic melody in the beginning.

yeah definitely sounds like you either have 0 release or 0 attack on the envelope of one of your synths, which would be causing that. Not bad though.
