Dubstep is Expensive

Post by Duffman » Mon Feb 28, 2011 1:04 am

I don't want to start my first post on a low, but :q: me is dubstep dear. Every albums I look for seems to be at least £10, and I can't seem to pick up any cheap second hand copies. But then again I am alway skint.

Can you guys afford all the new and old releases?

Also, is there any good places to buy dubstep on the net?

Music in general is expensive.

But if you go on iTunes you can get the 'This Is Dubstep' albums for around £4-£6 each (full tracks too)

This Is Dubstep Vol 3 (£5.99):
http://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/this-i ... d389378468

This Is Dubstep Vol 2 (£4.49):
http://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/getdar ... d363562644

This Is Dubstep (Vol 1) (£4.49):
http://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/getdar ... d378315244

All unmixed in iTunes :)

Aye ano

But I'm skint and I'm used to getting second hand albums for a couple of quid. The thing is second hand dubstep albums are usually dearer than the new ones :?

The average cost of a single is about £7.50 for me if you take postage into account (no decent record shops near me). But it's not the dubstep that's expensive, it's just vinyl in general. Wish it was cheaper, but won't stop buying. Gotta keep wax alive!

Man up. An unmixed dubstep compilation is easily the cheapest way to purchase music. Bare tracks for less than a tenner. You may be broke, but im sure you can have a couple of pints less a week to get some amazing music.

I don't buy music so much as go to nights, raves are the best because 1) they're free, and 2) they tend to play far more far-out stuff than anyone would dare to play in a normal venue even though it's as good, if not better, than what you generally hear! I went through '06 to like '08 without explicitly knowing a lot of tracks, my mates go 'Oh yeah you remember such and such?'.. 'No? It's this!'.. Me: 'Oh yeah I know that, never knew the name though!'

I wasn't impressed with certain 'big-name' producers' materials anyway, a lot of tracks were just repeating after bars 33-64 and half of it was waste. This has changed with stuff like Mala's 'Return II Space' etc but there are so many free mixes you don't really need to buy albums or even any tunes at all unless you really want a specific track.

Anyway, if you got no cash tune in to the radio!
