Oh sh - ! Recommend me a pc I can run and buy tomorrow!!!!
Sorry to have to create another 'recommend me a ...' thread, but this is a slight emergency...
So somehow all the computers in my house have died within a month of each other and we need a new one fast. Me and my gf are incredibly busy at the mo (she's in her final uni year and has assignments due and I've got tunes to write, mixes to record and recording sessions at the house) and the laptop deaths couldn't have come at a worse time. So, unfortunately we're gonna have to go out tomorrow and get a new desktop, so we don't have the time to research it properly or build our own (which I'd rather do, but I guess that'll have to wait.)
So, can someone recommend me a windows desktop pc that's good for running Ableton, with lots of plugs, tracks and vst's, lots of memory for my samples and projects (thank god we both religiously back things up) and can handle my gf's insane million tab zotero surfing when she's doing research? I don't need a screen either, got a perfectly good one already. Oh, and we have to be able to get it on the high-street in a big shop, or a good online retailer with next day delivery. We basically need this thing yesterday, lol. Budget of up to a grand, but preferably somewhere around the 7-800 mark.
I'm basically looking to not get too ripped off in my hasty purchase by some no-mark in pc world...

ever consider a mac? after years and years of pc's dying and bogging up on me i switched to mac and couldnt be happier. macs dont bog up like pc's do and they seem to last much longer. plus you use ableton, so a mac will work for you. you could get a 22" imac for about 1000, or a macbook pro 13", or even a 2.66ghz mac mini for like 800. or if you wanted to spend about 1500 you could get a 27" imac or 15" macbook pro.
something to consider.
but if you must get a pc. def get an adk. heres a link. they make some amazing audio computers for good prices.

No can do mac sorry. Can't be arsed with the compatibility nightmare and whatnot. I know all my gear and software works on a windows pc, so I'll stick with that! I shall check the link you gave now. Ta!

Pfft... mac's are booolshit... however away from Mac hating...
Check out Scan.co.uk 's today only deals they normally have sick computers for fuck all.
http://www.scan.co.uk/todayonly/index.aspx
Also their audio PC's are licensed by ADK who make the mutts nuts in audio PC's in the states...
http://3xs.scan.co.uk/Category.asp?Syst ... tegoryID=2
Basically they are the best computers you can get for the least amount of money, especially the today only ones, which are in fact seemingly cheaper than their component parts
:/

Re: Oh sh - ! Recommend me a pc I can run and buy tomorrow!!
For a grand you could build a monster PC you be better off in the long run
Re: Oh sh - ! Recommend me a pc I can run and buy tomorrow!!
The only problem with ADK is that you have to get it shipped from the states + pay import tax which is a bitch.
Whereas Scan.co.uk work together with ADK and basically build the same boxes but over here.
Dirt cheap and FUCKING powerful, as well as being stress tested and with all the awesome customer service you could want
/excessive recommendation.
