high quality mics?...

Post by Johnst » Fri Mar 04, 2011 7:27 am

Does anyone have any high quality mikes that they feel like recording random samples with? I saw a post about this on DOA a few weeks ago, but the OP never got back to me and i'm extremely curious to see what kinds of noises i can come up with random high quality samples, so if anyone feels like recording a bunch of random stuff/taking requests, post in this thread.

Get a high quality John. They're far superior to Mike anyway. :)

Neumann, Telefunken, Sanken, AKG that kinda stuff.
Look for a decent shotgun if you wanna do location stuff.
What is your budget though, the mic's there are extremely high quality but consequently very expensive.

i think hes asking if anyone had a high quality 'mike' that theyd like to record with, and then send the recordings to him to use in a track!
not to actually buy one himself...thats what i got anyway :corntard:

shit. that was an extremely unclear post. my apologies. and the mike responses were hilarious.

anyways, what i meant was, if anyone has any MICS ( :6: ) and they like to record random noises (dog barking, running water, just random shit) then i'd be extremely interested in getting high quality samples of those things to play with in a sampler and see what comes out of it.

i'll remember to not be drunk next time i post....

EDIT: good work mortal at deciphering haha

Like mentioned before, a portable recorder is a good idea - Zoom has nice affordable models.

An allround mic would be a pencil - shotgun mic. Neumann RSM 191, Sennheiser 441, Rode NTG-3 etc. you could combine the 2 - ie, plugin the mic in to the HD recorder.

what is your budget. if you just want a decent little ghetto mic for ambient public and nature shit, get a zoom h4 for a couple bucks, runs on batteries. oktava makes some great affordable stuff as well.
if your a heir to the throne and have super deep pockets get a u87 and a akg441.
