Buy the base model and do all the upgrades yourself. The longer you wait to do it, the cheaper it will be. It will probably run fine out of the box. If you know someone who works for Apple, ask them to hook you up with a discount.

for me, the mouse was a big improvement on my setup.

next up is the ram, and im sure ill feel the difference.

I'd recommend the RAM, I don't think the screen will be necessary to be fair.

I have 8GB of RAM and a hybrid 500gb HD in the post now for my 2009 mbp which should be a nice boost.

Take a look at getting an apple bluetooth and magic mouse later down the road as well

the guy who repaired my comp at the apple store strongly disrecommended id buy the ram intended FOR the mac and told me any stock ram bar would do the trick and be fairly cheaper...

i have gift certificates lying in my wallet that ill be using for that at my local department store...

i hope he's right
