an idea for next dsf remix comp

Post by efence » Thu Mar 03, 2011 1:57 am

what about the use and only the use of a movie and sound track? no pre-chopped samples just good old sample digging and cutting. if the right movie/soundtrack is picked you should have everything, drums, natural instruments, efx, vocal clips, ect.
whats your thoughts?

I'd be well up for this... Got to be plenty of cheap, but worthwhile Scores on iTunes or something?

some great sci-fi flicks with great scores and loads of samples in the movie. Also some brillant composers.

What if it was the other way round and a short clip was selected and the contestants had to write a dubstep-eaqe score 0o ?

This is a great idea.
if everyone just torrents the chosen film then uses AoA Audio Extractor to rip audio of the selected scene?

That idea floated about before, but nothing ever came from it. I would be down for it again, because it's some thing I have always wanted to do, but never have...
That is sick.

Only thoughts are that not all daws are tailored to soundtrack work, altho can run the film in a player along side daw so yea do able

maybe someone on Dsf has done a film, could use that and skip all legal worries.

Soundtracking a scene to a film would be awesome. I'd love this to go ahead (although not right now as my PC is semi-dead). I had a go at doing this with Alien druing the scene where Ash malfunctions and was great fun

We'd probably need to decide if it's more sound design based, or writing music?

A non-repetitive competition??

i like the sample pack idea...but we should get crappier samples instead of the moderately-decent ones we get
...in my opinion
