OUTLOOK FESTIVAL 2011 INFO

Post by giulio » Sun Mar 06, 2011 6:25 pm

Hi everyone i'm new to this forum so if there were already threads like this i'm sorry, anyway i'm from italy and i just really really really got into dubstep (i'm currently in Colorado and here pretty much everyone listens to dubstep) i just found out about outlook festival and i decided that i have to go, so i've got a couple questions, the prices on the website are in the croatian coin? Cause i'm thinking of staying on the campsite, and going on a bus from treviso to there.. and the total for 2 person is closed to 500£ how much would that be in dollars or euros?
how's the security over there? i'm not thinking of bringing anything but i'll probably be looking for something in there... is there lots of security? anybody who has already been there could tell me?
when should i buy the tickets? is it gonna sell out? has it ever sold out?
for the people who already have been there, is it an amazing event? cause i'm sooooo excited.. like i'm really really excited
thanks all for your help
Giulio

Prices are in British Pounds I'm pretty sure!

£500 = about €600 euros at the moment, a little bit less maybe, about $800 US dollars.

From reports you can get hold of things but can't be blatant about it - i suppose like any other club - except there are undercover police there but apparently there easy to spot!

It will sell out, well it did last year! buy ASAP I suppose!

Yes, last year's was amazing (and I've been all three years). Hopefully this year will be as good, although I think they are expanding it a bit this year so there will be more people there. Seriously good vibes at the current location/setup. £500 for two seems a bit more than I'd expect, especially if you're taking the bus from Treviso and camping. That sounds more like the price of an apartment.

I've bought my ticket, but have a few questions:
Has anyone been, and camped at Outlook before? How was it?
How did you travel there, and where from?

I'm from Scotland and still trying to figure the easiest/cheapest way to get there.

If you can get to Pula airport, I'd say that's the way to go. The bus transfers from the other various airports are fine on the way there, but they were quite limited in timings on the way back. I had to catch one at 6am on the last night/morning to Zagreb, even though my plane was on the morning of the following day. Getting on a bus for a 3h journey while the music is still going on is not great. So I'd suggest checking plane times to avoid early flights from faraway airports immediately after the festival is supposed to end.

How about trains? It probably takes a good while longer but is it cheaper? I'm trying to get an idea of what countries we would pass through, no idea where to begin :u:

I think you'll probably have to cross about 5 countries. You could try the Outlook bus from Leeds or something probably.

Didn't camp there last year but spent a fair amount of time in and around the campsite as that's where everything kinda was. Most people who camped really enjoyed it, it was the best campsite Outlook has ever had. There was even a decent shower area to use.

The daytime stage is right smack in the middle of the campsite, right next to the beach.

The campsite is also as close the the main festival area as you'll get. Still probaly a 10 minute walk, but it's not bad. Most people will walk through the campsite when they head down after leaving the festival site.

I camped at Outlook, and it was sick. I went with a friend who is a clean freak; she was really against camping but due to a shortage on funds, we had to. It turned out more than fine. We kept it clean and smelling nice, we had showers each night we were there (tip: have a shower when you come back from dancing at the fort; that's when you get the hot water!!). The campsite is the place to be, we made so many friends, great atmosphere, we were right next to the beach, we could get to the fort (where the music was playing at night time) really easily. You're next to all the shops on site. The one bad thing is it gets MEGA hot in your tent in the morning and we were in the shade.

I travelled from London to Venice, then got a bus from Venice to Pula. Flights to Venice are really cheap, and a return bus ticket is about 48 euros (we took the public transport, not the Outlook transfer buses, the transfer buses are cheaper). If you're from scotland you can get the train to somewhere in the North (Liverpool, Manchester), and get a flight to somewhere in Europe (Venice, Zagreb, Trieste, etc) and get a transfer.

I did Outlook for just over £400, and that included staying in Venice for 3 days, so you don't need that big a budget. I really reccommend Outlook, it was the best 4 days of my life, no joke. Can't wait for 2011!! :corndance:

Wow that's really useful mate, thanks a lot :z:

I've already got my ticket ordered, especially after reading all about the 2010 one I could not possibly miss this one (the lineup :h: )

I was expecting to spend a lot more than £400! How much spending money did you take?

Yeah man, missing Outlook was not an option for me.
I took £150 spending money. Although, I must admit, one of the nights in Venice I slept rough. But I got 2 nights in a student hostel for so cheap. And I also didn't eat that much (just drank, 2 litre bottle of beer for dirt cheap). You can do Outlook for under £500 easy.

only recently decided to get on this. Bought one of the extra 300 tickets and then bought the camping extra days, flights ect..

Got a couple of questions for those who have been before.

So im camping for 7 days.. What do I do about my phone. No way that will last 7 days and ill kinda need it? Should I invest in a few more batteries and bring em along?

Tents - I have only put on 1 case for my flight but a tent and a bag will be 2. I heard you can buy or rent tents for a price but what kind of tents are they? I was thinking of getting one of them pop outs. They have done me well over a couple of festivals. Was thinking of gettin a dark inside one so that the sun doesnt get in? (is that logical or does it work the other way round and will i sweat to death?)

There is a plug in the ablutions area. Bring your charger and appropriate converter and your sorted. Only problem is you'll have to stand around and guard it whilst looking like some sort of sex pest.

Surely you can get your clothes for 7 days into hand luggage?? And then your tent is hold luggage.. sorted.

I think outlook are arranging a tent hire service. Which would be all my problems sorted.
(I didn't pack enough clothes last year cos I wanted to make room for the tent. And because of all the dust my clothes got dirty quickly and I had to wear them inside out  )

sup guys, just trying to figure out how much spending money i need for the trip. how much does a pint cost at the festival? me and my mates are road tripping down so is it worth buying some booze before we get there? also prices of food, someone told me that just a burger was about 50 kunas which is about £6 i think... which is hardly maccys prices. is this about right? obviously won't be eating an awful lot but just trying to get my bearings as student loan is running low ;)
