THIS! Save your lungs people, you're not gonna get cancer but smoke inhalation isn't good for anyone. When you burn weed, most of it's potency comes from the evaporated oils suspended in the smoke, not the actual burned plant matter. A vaporizer does exactly what it says: vaporizes that oil without burning. If you're doing it right, a vaporizer will extract about 70% of the psychoactive components, compared to 5-15% using flame. Definitely worth the money, cut my smoking in 1/4 and paid for itself within two months.mlh295 wrote: you guys should try vaporizing weed, its the best.
It's all about the ratio of CBD to THC. Sativas generally have a higher ratio of THC and are usually more stimulating and energizing, whereas indicas have a higher CBD content, which has more of a sedative and/or painkilling effect. For this reason, most medicinal strains are usually some form of indica. As a general rule sativas are usually bright green and indicas appear darker or purple, but hybrids and exceptions to this do exist...
I lived down in Phoenix for a few years doing the college thing, not really ballin' by any means so I was smoking a lot of dirty outdoor schwag (Good indoor in phx costs about 5x as much of what I pay here) which is almost always some Indica strain or ditch weed filled with seeds (for anyone who doesn't know, producing seeds reduces the oil output of the plant, and that's where all your THC is). During my time there I was in a few metal bands and a white-boy-reggae type outfit, and I found it nearly impossible to get the creative juices flowing if I was stoned. I found the odd time I smoked good-quality indoor or used a vaporizer it was easier to formulate ideas and get them out onto notes, but this was a rare occurrence.
Right now I live in pot paradise (Nelson is like Canada's Santa Cruz, but the shit's cheaper, about half what I paid in SC)
and have easy access to a huge selection of high-grade stuff, so it's easy to pick and choose what I feel like putting in my brain. I like to keep a selection of stuff for different uses, sativa for daytime smoking, indica for night, hash for party time (woo!). It's important to know what your cannabis is going to do to you, for example, I suffer from chronic insomnia and if I smoke some indica before bed I'm out like a light, but sativas tend to aggravate the problem. Same works the other way around, I find I'm lazy and unproductive if I smoke and indica during the day.
All of this aside, it's important to take breaks from constant smoking about every month or so to literally clear your brain out. For those people who have been blazing for ages and don't feel like they get to the same heights, it only takes about four days of cessation to completely reset your tolerance. Also, it should be obvious, but giving your lungs a break is really beneficial to your immune system. I'm on day three of my monthly cycle (hehe...better than bleeding out your snatch, thats for sure) and I haven't gotten much sleep, but I still feel energized and alert. This will carry through the first few weeks of smoking again, until I start feeling sluggish and the weed stops doing the trick, and then it's time to take another break.
