Post songs or artists that inspire you
What some of your favorite artists or songs, that wish to aspire to or like their ideas, it may be various techniques, general songs etc..
I like james blakes bass in limit your love, and how to song is written, and how it all comes together, also the bass is something i would like to emulate
Mala's deep bass and percussion is on another level, i would like to emulate the deep bass into something more uplifting and approachable
I also the rave type feel that skrillex emulates, that gets you amped, and is easier on people's ears, also his song structure is sick

Re: Post your influences
I'm not really influenced by dubstep. If I was, then the stuff I made would just sound like other dubstep, and would be quite dull/inbred.

Re: Post your influences
Feel free to post any other music that isn't dubstep, i know i have influences from marilyn manson, gang starr and others, understand what you are saying most of dubstep is very similar, but what are some sounds that you try to emulate when you produce, or inspire you
Re: Post songs or artists that inspire you
I am also not really influenced by dubstep and don't really have a "style". I draw my influences from old skool trance, a bit of grime and if I was going to say dubstep you'd be looking at rootsy stuff. My heavier stuff I try to make with a style but as far as a considered general producing style goes I don't really have one to pinpoint dubstep influences.

See, this is why I don't particularly like 'inspiration' based threads on forums. They all start off with the best intentions, and no disrespect to the OP nor any respondents thus far, but the threads always descend into self indulgent YouTube wanking.
I'm not against people saying what they like etc, but this will just turn into yet another thread of YouTube videos being listed endlessly, and quite frankly we have enough of those already.

Re: Post your influences
i'd say... for dubstep it's the more techy, ambient-y whatever stuff like hotflush or apple pips and lots of ramadanman. i don't even listen to it as much as other dubstep but it's what always gets me into producing mood.
the same goes for the newer styles in drum'n'bass, the more minimal stuff like spinline, stuff like sabre or rockwell. also the whole autonomic crew.
then lastly it's the whole group of artists around youngsta, icicle, joker D and so on. love how they keep the sound true to the roots of dubstep but still technically more advanced than a lot of filth. but that latter part, the technical complexity of their basslines, is what also takes away my motivation to even try and do stuff in that vein. i simply don't get it, so i'll just keep listening and make music that i fully understand.
