Good on him I say, that sounds like a great idea.
You can barely buy a bottle of water for £1. Its hardly going to break the bank!

Imagine how many shitty tracks he needs to go through, one pound is only fair.

Absolutely, but what makes him any better than the dozens of other producers, DJs, and label owners I could get feedback from for free?

Then don't pay for it? Don't use his service and stop worrying about why?

People have this sense of entitlement. 'I exist, therefore, I have the right to get not have to pay a single pound to get my music reviewed by him'.

And what if he likes it, he's going to get it released? That's kinda what makes it different.

Clearly, you don't care if Benga reviews your music. Which is fair enough. I don't care either what he thinks of my tunes. So clearly, this service isn't aimed at you.

And to repeat, hosting and brandwidth costs money. He's more likely to be flooded with files than some random dude on the internet is.

Yup, pretty good idea imho

If you're not into it there are plenty who you could send you tunes to, as you already stated

at least it'll make producers careful in what they send him, not sending him any ol' shite

I'd be quids in if I did it, the amount of music I get sent to my show on a daily basis

well done. i agree. at least the low fee is gonna make ppl think about what they send in... if not you'd get every yahoo's tracks x30... that would suck.
and, he's gonna have to put quite some time on the side to run through the submitted material. I think his time is worth something.

cheers and best of luck.

maybe looking for stuff to break into the more commercial scene with this i'd imagine, plenty of people not into dubstep will make tracks if they know benga will listen to it for a pound as well, i don't like the concept, but it's well played..

Probably been said but it will for sure weed out the unserious people or the people who aren't 100% behind their tune.

or just people with silly amounts of money who can just throw tunes at him til he likes one maybe?
i do think it's a good idea though, if i could make a tune that was decent i'd send it in

Don't know why people are complaining. He's got to the point where he's so huge he's probably swamped by shitty tracks. So instead of just throwing it all away and not listening to anything he's making a real commitment to do so while getting something in return. People will obviously send him tunes constantly as he's one of the biggest in the scene and might do it just as a punt to get big regardless of quality (you see people putting more effort into spamming than production all the time unfortunately). So this means people will restrict the amount they send off to him as it costs money and send only their best and get more of a guarantee he will bother with it. He's only charging a quid a track. It's not extortionate.
