It's all down to the performer you sample/record. Full stop.

FULL STOP

in Logic there are functions that allow you to slow your track down a certain amount of semitones. For example, if you want a UK Garage-y sort of sound you slow your track 5 semitones, get your vocalist to record at that pitch, then speed everything back up.

The tune you linked to is proper chipmunk vocal which is probably a whole octave.

Use a pitch shifter. This will allow you to pitch vocals up or down without changing the actual speed of the sample.

Grab your nuts on the high notes.

Literally, no offense.

Get melodyne or something of the like, and just move sample parts around into higher octaves, aiming to make melodies with the vocals
Do you say zerbaman? Or do you say zebraman?

+1 for melodyne

In ableton changing your warp mode to Re-Pitch & playing with the tempo of the track could turn out pretty nice (afterwards press ctrl+j and put the track back in it's original tempo!)
I'm sure you can do this in other DAW's too!

I'm no 12 year old, but maybe this is a time where my high voice will actually be useful rather than hilarious to others :dunce: On a serious note, if you would like a high-range singer, I'm your "man" (project pending of course). Other than that, I would just use a pitch shifter, or down pitch and have the performer sing normally like others have already suggested.

^was my pedo bear relevant?

btw : i really think those vocals are just soulful rnb vocals pitched up... u really just need to get some soulful vocals... not squash the dynamics they already have... and embellish them with effects... (reverb sends for instance)... but yeah u should just find some SOUL / RNB vocals...

Nothing can just BE emotional, always depends on the context, and the listener's opinion
