Which is the best djing program to use?

Post by KamronKingston+ » Sun Mar 20, 2011 2:39 am

Hello from vancouver :)

I recently purchased a hercules mk4 as an introduction to djing, however I am unsure of which dj program to use. I attended a day class for fundamentals of djing and the instructor advised that I use Serato given most dj's use serato, and that you chance a hassle or troubleshooting issues if you go to play somewhere and the set up is serato and you have virtual dj or ableton, but upon downloading serato I have had nothing but problems. All drivers are current and I've uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times, the midi learn function isn't active, no virtual jogwheels are displayed, no abs, rel, just the two tracks and the file directory below it and a message beside the first track displaying "rane hardware disconnected" do you need the S1 in order to patch the console through?

Serato scratch live isn't made for Midi, and it won't work unless you have a Serato Box.

Serato itch is only made for specific controllers.

Serato is the most stable DJing software there is, if you RTFM and use the gear thats meant for it.

In other words, sell the Hercules and get a controller that is actually meant for serato, that has the sound card built in... or get used to using Tractor with an external sound card (that you'll need to buy seperately)

Don't even touch anything else with a 10' barge pole, every other piece of DJing software out there is unstable (apart from ableton, which is also another option), and if it requires you to "patch" it to work, you shouldn't have it anywhere near a club.
