I think Bush is from New Haven Connetticut or however you spell it, so that gives Texas a chance...

although its not new havens fault either: A predominantly Democratic city, New Haven voters overwhelmingly supported Al Gore in the 2000 election and Yale graduate John Kerry in 2004. Interstate highway officials made several attempts to place signs on Interstates 91 and 95 announcing the city as the birthplace of the current president, but the signs were subject to rapid vandalism and have been removed.

i spent two weeks in houston a few years ago, it was so god damn hot i couldn't handle it and just stayed inside w/ the a/c the whole time....

i work with a few ppl from texas and they seem safe, certainly not rednecks.

im guessing there's probably as much white trash up here in the midwest as there is down there (if not more...).

p.s. and for the record the 'don't mess with texas' campaign is about littering! ; )

When Texans say 'Don't mess with texas!', what exactly do they mean (if anything). No disrespect to the texan contingent, I was just wondering. By the way Jennifer, that sig picture actually made me laugh out loud

Texans are very proud of their home.

I remember my sister was interested in this guy once and asked me...
"Do you think that guy over there is from Texas?"
I said, "if he was, he would have already told you! and if he's not, you don't wanna embarrass him."
Speak for yourself Bob!

I was born and raised there(spent 26 years in that hell hole)
Lived all over(Dallas ,Houston , Austin, San Marcos, etc.)

Quite simply, Texas Sucks

Weather sucks complete ass, and the drug laws there are ridiculous,
I was busted with less than an ounce of weed in Austin and they charged me with a 3rd degree felony, which could have landed me in prison for 10 years.( after spending 5 grand on a lawyer it was reduced to a misdemeanor).

Yesterday I went and saw Steven? and Jr "gong' Marley in Golden Gate Park(San Francisco). People were walking around with trays of pot cookies and brownies and selling them with no problems from police. One couple was standing less than 6 feet from a cop and smoking a joint and the cop said nothing!!

I won't even take a plane that flies over Texas, I meet my family in Vegas when I visit them so I won't have to go to Texas.

I could go on and on about how much I hate the place , but I'm sure you get the picture.

If you like it there more power to you!!

Big up San Francisco!!!

Texas is a mad place. My first experience of it was 2002, went over for my sisters wedding. She got married at the RenFair. It was madness, proper trippy. Best bit was my mum getting hammered on mead at the joust and shouting "cuba libra!!" at the top of her voice. What a rebel hehe. I had no idea those things existed! Its bonkers tho that such a massive tract of land is just given over to this festival that happens once a year for like 5 days, and the rest of the year just sits there gathering dust. No shortage of land tho i guess.

Strangest thing was when we arrived it was fucking monsoon weather, i've never seen rain like that anywhere, ever. Put me in mind of that Nick Cave tune, Tupelo.. such a strange atmosphere. Its definately a place of extremes; you get the weird feelin that anything is possible there.. but it also feels well draconian, as the majority of people seem to be so conformist. I don't include Austin in that mind, proper laid back and easy vibe to that place. The first time i went tho i spent most of the time in and around College Station area. Bad bad bad.

Was over last summer and made it to Weight in Austin on Red River, everyone was really welcoming and friendly. It was a great night, the vibe was kinda different to a UK rave but it was just taking off over there then. Its mad lookin at photos from events across Texas recnetly, bare people! Just shows how international dubstep has become.

Anyway, i love Texas, even tho it may be because i have to, cos part of my family is there. I get nostalgic for it. Big up the Lone Star State.

i'd never move anywhere else in america outside of texas, if i leave texas i'm leaving the country.

but yeah houston might be a lil strict on pot, but austin seems super lax and so do most other places i've been.
