On Friday 25th March 2011, the Queen of Clubs launches monthly at Eiger studios (next to vox). The venue with its exposed brick walls, concrete floors and powerful sound system is perfect for showcasing the raw talent we have lined up. ...
We're proud to present special guest SOOM T. The exceptionally talented Glaswegian MC, well-known for her definitive style, quirky yet highly distinctive voice and for her strong political and spiritual viewpoint. She has spent the past ten years producing and recording with a wide variety of music groups and artists such as The Orb, Asian Dub Foundation, King Creosote, Miss Kittin, Bus and Raumschmiere. The long awaited debut album of Soom T and Distrupt from Jahtari HQ, 'Ode 2 A Carrot' realeased in January contains 100% ganja lyrics/music on crazy 8bit digital reggae riddims.
Other current projects include recordings with Scottish Reggae soundsystem masters, Mungos Hifi, Gypsy Rock 8 Piece Conkers, a collaborative folk music album for Bluebells Ken McCluskey's Root 8 Label, Prodigy-esqe co-produced project No Step with ex-Senser producer and production partner Hagos who Soom T owns and runs the label No Step Productions.
Her only forthcoming UK gig confirmed to date, expect a very special live set from Soom T on the night, exploring her works past, present and future.
SERIAL KILLAZ, the the legendary drum and bass do made up of Dj’s Tobie Scopes (Dj Tera) and Graham Warnock (Vital Elements) are also set storm the main room. Snapped up by Rebel MC’s record label, the duo have remixed tracks by legends such as Congo Natty, Souljah and Nicky Blackmarket and many others as well as producing big tracks both as solo artist’s and a duo. Their 2011 schedule is already jam-packed and fresh off their Australian tour we are thrilled to have them play for us.
Next up are the sibling collaboration, Martha Cecilia and MeatEd aka LA LA and the BOO YA. The duo are not to be missed! Their musical career is going from strength to strength right now. Tom Robinson of BBC 6 Music who is know for spotting emerging talent is "very fond of La La & the Boo Ya" describing them as 'political pop', their 'curious name' has not disuaded him from comparing them to the likes of Dylan, The Clash and Public Enemy. They are currently linking up with the junglist legend Congo Natty aka Rebel MC. Martha Cecilia has put down guest vocals for a track from his forthcoming album and the parts for the LL&BY track 'Junglist Soldiers' have been handed over to the man himself for a Congo Natty version. Future plans for a LL&BY album release on Congo Natty Recordings are in the pipeline...
