For Liquid Steel’s second bout with the Fatman, HiFi plays host to the enigmatic head of Ghost recordings – El-B. This is quite possibly the most exciting and anticipated DJ set we’ve had for quite a while at LSS. From picking up where Garage left off and laying the foundations for what is now known as Dubstep, this somewhat elusive producer released a 12” alongside J Da Flex and Jammer last year. Responsible for pioneering the percussive 2-step rhythms that Horsepower and Hessle Audio would later replicate as well as creating the anthemic Buck & Bury featuring Juiceman, EL-B is a true originator. Some may not have heard of El-B before but his significance to the Bass music genre is confirmed by the fact that the contemporary sounding ‘Roots of El-B’ EP is almost 10 years old. Joining the man is Well Rounded’s JAMIE GRIND mapping the retreat into more House & Minimal styles that have lead the way in recent years by label mate and LSS favourite Hackman. Excellent support comes in the shape of SubDub and Tribe Record’s FINWA plus Barry’s inimitable PHAT PAT.
