Re: MPK mini problems
Threw in the towel - bye bye MPK mini. Any reccomendations on a controller that is completely and automatically functional with Ableton Live - much like my launchpad?m looking for something with the same bells and whistles as the MPK mini but will actually work and won't make me want to smash it with a f-ing hammer.

Re: MPK mini problems
Seriously, I'd double check everything again, I love my mini, it's so convenient because of it's portability. When doing sound design, it's quick to midi map and tweak things out on the fly, easy to bring to different parts of the house, easy to travel with, etc... For the price and functionality, nothing comes close for the bang for the buck.

Re: MPK mini problems
I just put a reminder for myself to post screenshots of my ableton setup and mpk mini editor setup. I go on lunch in 4 hoursish, so I can post them then when I get home.

Re: MPK mini problems
Here are my settings. If I'm using massive, I'll literally right click on what I want to control, and then move a knob. The knob I chose then controls the parameter. It also works in midi map mode in Ableton - just go into midi map mode, then click on what you want to control, then move a knob. Exit midi map mode and it should control it just fine. The forum couldn't decide the size of the images, so I pasted the links below:

Re: MPK mini problems
Yo dude, im an amateur too, since like half a year?
Anyways i wanted to get some hardware you know, tired of tapping that flimsey computer keyboard.
So i bought an mpkmini, yet it only gave me head ache -.-
After days of searching and doing pointless shit over and over again, i finally got it.
I myself use cubase, this is how i do it;
i grab my groove agent, load it with (mostly drum)samples (thats 9 tabs of 4x4 pads)
i assign groove agent to channel 10, as 10 is standardly used in mpk mini for the pads
the rest i leave @ channel 1.
then;
you noticed you can tap the buttons called ehmm.. something 1 and something 2
in my case i used the something 1 for the bottom 2x4 pads and the something 2 for the upper 2x4 pads.
use the 1 through 4 buttons to assign the first 4 tabs of groove agent to each individual pad of the mpk mini.
For tabs 5-9 i use the iPad which is similiar to the NanoPad.
With the included, or downloadable Akai software, you can program your mpk, deciding which octave to start at.
Apologies in case of any grammar FAILure, im dutch you see, well actually french, living in holland xD
edit;
btw i remember running into mpk mini ableton live presets during my quest for the cubase tutorials xD

Re: MPK mini problems
thought i have the same problem with my mpk mini and wasted 2 hours looking for a solution... mac os lion 10.7 with ableton live 8, the only thing i had to do was just to check REMOTE boxes in live's midi sync preferences... posting this just so that another dumbass doesn't waste his time like i do...

Re: MPK mini problems
I`ve been trying to get this piece of shit working all day, really considering throwing it out the window... seems like there are so many other people having problems, especially the knobs.
