metal bass sound like 'Lost'

Post by stigmadj » Wed Mar 30, 2011 4:52 pm

I know there are loads of the 'how do you make' threads and i know im just adding to it, and im not going to completley copy it like some others would because i already have my own sound. i was just curious. does anyone have any ideas? Lost & Shiverz set on GetDarker the other day had lots of tunes with this kind of sound.

I'm sure you can get those noise's out of most synth's.
An easy one's massive, which i'm sure you've heard of!
Scrapyard is a good wave shape to start with carbon also, mess around with the modulation oscillator. Put distortion, phase etc on massive's output channel.
Layer two sounds to make one hybrid, put more fx on that noise.
Dont think you'll find a straight answer to get the noise you want.
But a few hours of messing aorund on massive and your sure to be close!

Hey mate, if you're struggling to get that sort of sound by synthesis you could always resample. Depends if it's your bag though. Use chorus, flanger, distortion and subtle reverbs for that "metallic" sound, be creative with what you have in your library/on your DAW.
