Being too nice to people you don't really enjoy
Bad idea, it'll keep haunting you forever. Or at least on Facebook chat every time you're online.
Met this girl at a party who judging from her body language it was quite obvious that she has a cognitive disorder. It's fine, some of my friends have some sort of autism spectrum disorder too so I'm not judging. But her symptoms were all over the place socially and it made conversing awkward. I'm not a dick so I just kept being nice to her and making conversation (even though I can't stand it when people repeat themselves.. pet peeve of mine).
Anyway, the night ended and I went out clubbing with a friend not expecting to ever hear from this girl again.
I got a Facebook request the day after. Which wouldn't have been so bad if she wouldn't constantly awkwardly chat with me on Facebook every time she's online. Ugh.
Yes, I currently have no real problems.

this is why I never go online on facebook chat.
I generally like someone until they do something bad to me, whereas alot of my mates are the opposite. tbh I dont really know which better?

Wow, technology!
I thought you could only block them all the way (which I would've felt bad about).
DSF hs saved my online life.

I've know a few people, usually women for some reason, that are kind of like this. They can't receive any social cues at all, like I'm done talking to you now. The just glom someone until the glomee gets burnt out and disconnects, then these women just move onto the next hapless victim. Wtf is up with this?

It is, or it can be an autism related thing. That or desperation, really.nowaysj wrote:I've know a few people, usually women for some reason, that are kind of like this. I always have the feeling like they are actually reading the cues, they just don't give a fuck. Maybe that is just my own cynicism.

Then they're just desperate people haha. Some people just need attention and feel bad when they don't get it.nowaysj wrote:I always have the feeling like they are actually reading the cues, they just don't give a fuck. Maybe that is just my own cynicism.

Maybe they just enjoy making people feel awkward in order to force an unusual response.nowaysj wrote:I always have the feeling like they are actually reading the cues, they just don't give a fuck. Maybe that is just my own cynicism.

Re: Being too nice to people you don't really enjoy
I think it depends...
If it is damaging to your person sure - cut it..
But sometimes awkwardness and disjoint can be a sign of something really interesting and special.
Maybe important even..
exp. When I first started college - in the early 90's -
There was this girl in class who talked about all of these bizarre and lunatic things
- like god having a house for her in heaven and wanting to set her apartment on fire
because of all of the little pieces of paper that she couldn't get rid of...
well at the time, I had been known to freak out occasionally and do things like
move 100% of my furniture and stuff onto the balcony so I could sit in a completely empty room..
That's the white room...so I understood her in a way..although she was NUT-TEEE..way nuttier than me..
Well - I used to hang out with her just because the stuff she came up with was so interesting..
and I felt like maybe in some way I helped to mirror some of the stuff back to her..
I saw her from the bus one day - she was wearing a muslim head scarf..she never failed I swear..
Who knows - I heard that a year or so later she had stabilized and had a boyfriend and was doing well..
To hear that made me very happy.

Possibly. But no thanks. <.<dreamizm wrote:..maybe she wants to bang
That's a different kind of disjoint and awkwardness, though. Some people it's like 'ok, this is weird, but... what's going on?' This was more like 'there is no connection between us, go away'.bright maroon wrote:I think it depends...

Don't go on Facebook chat for ages. Simple.

Re: Being too nice to people you don't really enjoy
Yeah, see, I had no idea I could just do that haha. Thought chat and Facebook were interconnected.firky wrote:Don't go on Facebook chat for ages. Simple.

Re: Being too nice to people you don't really enjoy
some time ago a guy started talking to me on FB after he added me; he was a friend of a friend so I guessed it was ok.
turns out he is gay and he kept talking to me; I thought: okay, I have nothing against gay people so I stay friendly. Next thing I know this guy is spamming me all week although I made it pretty clear that I wasn't interested. The only solution was to just ignore him I think, and I'm happy it worked
