Behavior altering drugs.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2011/ ... -behaviour
So I read this article on the guardian and kind of thought great, another step forward in science and healthcare that will help alot of people. The othr thought I had was how long will it be until people are relying on a more commercial alternative for example drugs to make you less likely to make rash decisions or to increase concentration when performing tasks. Then the question how far will it go?
What do people think? Also what kind of behavioral effects do you notice after prolonged useage of drugs be it recreational or medicinal? Any ninja's on anything like prozac and like to share how it makes them feel?

Guess its only a matter of time before a pill is invented that makes you happier all the time, if it didn't have any side effects other than making you enjoy life more then would you take it?
I'm not sure I would, melancholy can be good in a way, and guess we learn from pain and mistakes.

Re: Behavior altering drugs.
Alternately you could go to church and blindly follow a cultist way of life.
You`ll live everyday naive and happy.
Sip on the wine and eat your daily bread.
"OH MY GOODNESS, I`M SOO WASTED ON THE LOVE OF THE LORD"
Give me a bong and some melancholy any day.
We wouldn`t have deep, melancholic music if it wasn`t for depression

Re: Behavior altering drugs.
It's a bad idea, far better for people to remain in an unaltered mind state so everyone can come to a consensus and work to maintain it and rely on drugs. What happens when people aren't given the drugs? They'll just revert to their previous behaviour, far better to invest in education. It's also an implication of power, whole countries would probably be given these 'medicines' (North Korea is a prime candidate). It's bad enough with having fluoride (proven to actually damage teeth rather than protect them, it's only meant for topical administration not ingestion) in the drinking supply without having this unnecessary concept bandied about...

of course, it's bleeding obvious:
we all need to get depressed more
and ganja's the drug to do it

Have any of you heard about that powder extracted from a certain flower, that some Brazilian gangs use that basicly rids you of willpower. Cant remember the name though, scary shit.

Re: Behavior altering drugs.
Ever heard of Mandrax?
That shit has fucked up too many people in South Africa.
Creates a nation of useless zombies.
As long as they have mandrax they`ll never harm you. Problem is it is in the poor communities so there's just bang loads of theft to keep up the habit.
Now it`s crystal meth ala tik.

Ecstasy isn't as good as people make out. I presume you've not taken enough to experience the negative effects yet.LACE wrote:me thinks the chemists nailed it with X.

Drugs to make me enjoy my life? Sure people have been doing that for years with the likes of tobacco, weed and alcohol.

Would it make you happy if you lost a limb or your phone or if somebody died?
