Hobart, Tasmania aiport is pretty LOL tbh. It's basically a bus terminal with planes instead of buses, and 3 blokes with beagles.

Hella Murakami fans on here. I just finished up "Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman" which means I have read all of his books that are available in the USA, sob. Anyone have a copy of Pinball 1973 they can lend me?

If you're out of Murakami, definitely check David Mitchell's "number9dream". Mitchell spent several years living in Japan, and while he has his own distinct voice, he clearly shows he is a Murakami fan in this novel -- even the title "number9dream" is related to Murakami's "Norwegian Wood". Then check Mitchell's "Cloud Atlas" and "Ghostwritten". Truly brilliant.

I'm off to find Hard Boiled Wonderland, can't believe I didn't know...

man, the worst ever for me was 12 hours in the dubai airport, in those rows of plastic chairs. The duty free mall is only interesting for about 4 hours, then it gets boring REALLY fast.

that was pure hell.

then again, even the london heathrow airport (one of my favorite when i was little) got boring after a few hours.

i used to fly unaccompanied minor from kuwait to california when i was 12... that was pretty cool.

'course this was back before the invention of terror.

Apparently our airport here is the busiest one but I don't find it to be bad because it's got a subway train underneath and you get wherever you need to go within seconds. After you get out it's not more than a 5 min walk to whatever your destination is.

On the other side of things, Chicago's O'Hare is the most insufferable airport I've ever been to.

That does sound wicked, but only if your laptop battery lasts more than half a minute, unlike mine.

Check out Vernon God Little by DBC Pierre as well, different to Haruki Murakami but really, really good.
