90's hardcore East Coast shit, whos loving it?

Post by Durag » Tue Mar 29, 2011 3:46 pm

Hip-hop is my first love, im a fan of everything from The Roots to Nas to UGK Public Enemy to D.I.T.C to Wu etc etc etc, but my favourite movement/era/sub-genre is easily the hardcore mainly east coast hip-hop of around 93-98, the likes of Wu, Black Moon, Smif-N-Wesson, Big L & D.I.T.C, Gangstarr, Jeru Da Damaja, (old) Mobb Deep, Cormega, (old) Nas, Kool G Rap, etc etc.

Who else is a fan?

R.I.P Guru, Big L, Big Pun, Scientifik, Ol' Dirty Bastard

early 90s east coast rap was my first kind of music a really go into (not counting a few shit backpack rap albums i had before that). wu tang, diggin in the crates, boot camp clik, gang starr foundation, native tongues. so many great collectives, you rarely see that in hip hop today.

I love the 90's east coast hiphop. Especially the stuff that came from Queensbridge. Nas, Mobb Deep, Capone-N-Noreaga, Cormega !!

I still get excited about these records like I did when they first came out. The raw samples and pure lyricism are unparalleled. Illmatic has literally never left my car

shit was real through the whole 90s. murda muzik dropped in 99. and mega dropped the realness in 01

camrons first few albums, along with early dipset held down the east coast until about 05. gangstarrs the ownerz was around then too. i haven't really bothered with the east coast since then.

Yeah, add Gravediggaz, Freddie Foxx, Kool Keith, Non Phixion, Masta Ace to that list.

Stoked that Prodigy is out of jail finally. Check out the Mobb Deep ustream, they've been broadcasting 8 hour studio sessions since P got out. All kinds of unreleased tracks and unheard verses there.

Wow-e.
Been searching for a hip hop forum for a while now and can't believe I've found one that doesn't suck Eminem and Jay-z balls.
I could talk about East Coast (especially Queensbridge) Hip Hop all day every day.

I'm not used to this forum shit, at all, so I'ma introduce myself here:
Ruth. 20. Glasgow.
If it was still the 90's, I would find it necessary to track down Prodigy and try to make him love me or something. However, it's 2011 and unfortunately, everyone that is easy on the ears is no longer easy on the eyes. I have love for Nas (Illmatic and It Was Writen), but fuck him for allowing people to think hip hop has died. There is a handful of people keeping it real, of course...not enough though. I reckon if it wasn't for Nas there would be a dillion more hip hop artists keeping it sound, unground(ish) and old school.
I have love for a whole load:
Mobb Deep (when they are - 50 cent). Tragedy. Kool G Rap. Rakim. Big L. Big Pun. CNN. Jedi. La Coka Nostra. Lord Finese. DITC. Biggie. R.A The Rugged Man. Raekwon. Cappadonna. Sunz of Man. Jeru. Killah Priest. LOTUG. (this could go on and on and on.) Mc Lyte (sometimes). Reggae. Jewellery. Photography. Joints. More Joints. And Sunshine.
I have a whole load of hate for:
Rihanna.
Rihanna.
Rihanna.
That list could go on but nothing is more important than Rihanna.

I'm going to explore this shit, the chat on this has given me a whole loada faith that I might actually be able to talk to real Hip Hop nuts.

Love.
Ruth

Thats a lie. Kayne West is definitely as important as Rihanna.
