I think he's calling it like it is. It's good to be aware of the current state of things so you can take it from there. The industry has changed so perhaps it's time to do things different.

As far as wanting to be a producer/musician... hopefully that is the same as it's always been: Driven by passion and love.

I agree this is not motivational by any means but at the same time being an artist means doing what you like to do for a living and that's an awesome thought.
