Surely this of all genres is one where you've got to get creative and use sounds that aren't necessarily drums. Though I guess if you don't have many found-sound/household sort of packs they might be handy here.

That's right and sample packs can also be inspiring in that respect.

I agree. It's an inspiring area because you can look at all these samples that you already have in different ways. I wouldn't really look at it as another lot of sounds to aquire, but how find a different perspective on common sounds.

Yeah I was thinking about getting that one. Free samples sound promising.
Looks like a good advice but it reminds me I bought Image-line's Drumaxx when it came out for $10 and never really used it so I think I'll stick with it for now.
Thanks for the reminder :)

I'll try that too, thanks ;-)

considering ASC created the name "autonomic" and is the forerunner of the sound, I thought you might want to know about that

haha, I personally didn't like drumaxx too much when it was released... I didn't like the sound... don't recall it being $10 though. Shoot, I would have bought it. I'd buy a scrunched up cigarette butt for $10 :dunce:

Yeah Drumaxx isn't really impressive but it can come up with a few decent sounds. Defo not $100 they're charging for it now. The offer when it went out was pay what you want with a minimum of $10/15.
The demo tracks for Microtonic are far more impressive. Will certainly give the demo a try.
I also wanna try the Elektron Machinedrum. Any experience with it ?

Only in my dreams... :Q:

I've got NO experience with any of their boxes. I don't know what it is. Maybe a US/Euro thing? People certainly use them over here, but seem less prevalent.

Personally, I've been way more into vinyl crunchy drums lately, but I've been on this sound design project, and would love to use something like the Machinedrum, would be perfect.

What inspired this hardware rampage that you're on?
